I witnessed the best stage effects I have ever seen anywhere (including Broadway), when on Saturday, July 20, I had the pleasure of seeing BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at the Sharon Playhouse, in Sharon, CT! While this story is likely familiar to most people, the Sharon Playhouse grips the audience right from the start, not merely by elevating the Enchantress into the air, but by having the Young Prince transformed into the Beast, on stage, in front of the whole audience, in a manner of seconds, with effective use of strobe lights, a successful undertaking of a greater magnitude than what people can expect in a typical magic show, much less a musical! Without providing any spoilers, for those of you familiar with how the story ends, that happens on stage too, right before our eyes, with effective use of strobe lights. Lighting Designer Jamie Roderick deserves a lot of credit for working what appears like magic, on the stage. Every show I have seen at Sharon Playhouse has been wonderful, but this is the best!
This fun and family friendly musical, adapted from the original Disney film, brings to life “a tale as old as time” of a selfish prince who is turned into a hideous monster and must win the affection of a beautiful, young girl in order to regain his humanity. This musical includes the classic scores of “Be Our Guest”, “If I Can't Love Her”, “A Change in Me”, the title song “Beauty and the Beast” and many more. The magical musical offers humor, romance, and excitement for all ages.
Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, CT under the management of Artistic Director Alan M-L Wager and Managing Director Robert Levinstein, announces the casting and creative teams for its 2019 60th Anniversary mainstage summer season.
The one night only holiday concert will feature talent from the acclaimed Sharon Playhouse 2018 season including Amanda Lea LaVergne (Anything Goes), David Fanning (Anything Goes), Katie Weiser (Pirates Of Penzance), Sarah Cuoco (Pirates Of Penzance), returning local favorite Michael Kevin Baldwin and newcomers Will Nash Broyles and Richard Koons…with Holly McCann at the piano!
Take the broadest physical humor and bad puns you can find, mix together with a half baked murder mystery and throw in enough current (and not so current) pop culture and local city references to choke the Mariner Moose and what do you have? You have "Shear Madness" currently playing at the Moore Theatre or as I call it one of the worst touring shows I've seen in the area since the 3 Redneck Tenors inflicted their 15 minutes of fame on Tacoma.
Troika Entertainment, LLC recently announced that SHEAR MADNESS, by Paul Portner, as adapted by Bruce Jordan and Marilyn Abrams, is hitting the road. Set in a unisex hairstyling salon that is the scene of a wacky murder, SHEAR MADNESS is America's hilarious whodunit where the audience gets to solve the crime. Check out photos of Mary Ann Conk, Joe Ditmyer, Michael Kevin Baldwin, Timothy C. Goodwin, Patrick Noonan and Lisa McMillan on stage below!

The hit family comedy Our SOn'S Wedding will close August 14. The 'satisfyingly funny' play about an Italian-American plumber (played by Paul D'Amato) and his wife (played by Marina Re) who are bickering about their son's wedding (Michael Kevin Baldwin)-to another man (Gil Brady). Complications ignite in a humorous story of a family that needs to let go of the past and look toward a new beginning.
Get ready to catch the bouquet with the regional premiere of OUR SON'S WEDDING by Donna de Matteo, in Florida Studio Theatre's Gompertz Theatre. OUR SON'S WEDDING will have preview performances on July 6 and July 7, with a press opening on Friday, July 8 at 8pm. The play will run through Sunday, August 7.
FST will present the regional premiere of Our Son's Wedding. The new play had its world premiere at Gloucester Stage Company, and went on to a recent run at Lake George Dinner Theatre in New York. New York actress Marina Re returns to FST as the wife, Mary, after appearing as the mother in both The Miamians and Boleros for the Disenchanted. She also appeared in Our Son's Wedding
at Lake George Dinner Theatre and Gloucester Stage in the same role. Marina's husband, actor Paul D'Amato, will join her on stage in what will surely be a chemistry filled portrayal of the couple Angelo and Mary Lo Presto.
