Monty Schuth to Receive 2014 Suzi Bass Lifetime Achievement Award; 11 Plays Up for Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award

Atlanta professional theatres continued their commitment to developing new work with a bounty of productions written or adapted by local playwrights. There are eleven such plays in contention for this year's Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award. The award, named after the primary founder of the Suzi Awards organization, recognizes an Atlanta-based playwright whose work was produced by a professional Atlanta theatre in the preceding season. A committee of area educators, playwrights and theatre professionals read each of the plays and choose the recipient.

Detroit Repertory Theatre's Lobby Gallery to Hold Champagne Reception for Michael Horner, 4/23

The Detroit Repertory Theatre's Lobby Gallery will have a Champagne Reception for local Detroit artist, Michael Horner on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Mr. Horner's works are on exhibit during Detroit Repertory Theatre's performances of Brother Of All until May 18, 2014. The Meet The Artist Champagne Reception is free and open to the public, and gives patrons an opportunity for an intimate experience with the artist and his works. Midtown International Theatre Festival presents Third Annual Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival, 2/4-24

John Chatterton and The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) have announced the Third Annual Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival, from Feb. 4 through 24, 2013. The Festival will take place at Roy Arias Studios' Stage 2, 300 W. 43rd St. 4th fl. Theatre in the Square to Receive Spirit of Suzi Award

The Suzi Bass Awards have announced Theatre in the Square, founded by Michael Horne and Palmer Wells, as the recipient of this year's Spirit of Suzi Award. The Spirit of Suzi Award recognizes a person or organization that demonstrates the long-term and consistent contribution to Atlanta theatre that embodies the spirit of the late and much-loved actress Suzi Bass, for whom the Awards organization is named.

Farber Celebrates 50 years On the Air, 10/5

Celebrating 50 years in talk radio, Barry Farber, 'the dean of talk radio,' will mark his 50th anniversary with a live radio broadcast at Manhattan's Paley Center for Media. Farber will be joined by his celebrity friends, colleagues and politicians during the two hour program. Participants include, Alan Colmes, Curtis Sliwa, Steve Madden, Steve Malzberg and many more. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. ET.
