From May 14 through 16, Emerging America brings some of the country's most promising performers, writers, companies and directors to Boston for a weekend filled with energy, imagination, creativity and drama.
Aspen's acclaimed Theater Masters will present its fourth annual 'Take 10,' an evening of ten nine 10-minute plays from aspiring playwrights across the country as part of its National MFA Playwrights competition on April 6th - 9th at Off-Broadway's Walkerspace (46 Walker Street). Distinguished Playwright Lanford Wilson, Theater Masters' Associate Director Pesha Rudnick and I read over 100 scripts submitted from ten of the top graduate playwriting programs to find these remarkable plays from some of the finest young playwrights this country is developing' said Julia Hansen, Theater Masters founder/Artistic Director - and former President of New York's Drama League. 'In many ways, how I started the Drama League's 'Director's Project' is how I am now developing new playwrights and giving them their first chance to have their work receive a New York premiere.'

Twelve early-career directors and designers have been selected for the 2009 NEA/TCG Career Development Programs for Theatre Directors and Designers. The recipients were chosen by an independent, national selection panel composed of theatre professionals. These programs are administered by TCG, in association with the National Endowment for the Arts, with major support from The Ford Foundation.

Youngblood (will present Thicker Than Water 2008, the ninth collection of new plays by members of Youngblood. Performances begin on Sunday February 3rd, and continue through Saturday, March 1st at E.S.T. (549 West 52nd Street). This year's Youngblood series presents one-act plays and musicals all having their world premiere.
