The Old Globe's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING Opens Tonight

The Old Globe presents The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program presentation of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, running tonight, Nov. 9 - Nov. 17 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Opening night is tonight, Nov. 9 at 8:00 p.m.

Christian Borle, Annaleigh Ashford, Derek Klena, Beth Leavel & Heidi Blickenstaff to Lead The Old Globe's Reading of New Musical DOG AND PONY, 11/1; Roger Rees to Direct

Tony Award-winning actors Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Spamalot) and Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, Elf), Tony nominee Annaleigh Ashford (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), and Broadway stars Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show], The Little Mermaid) and Derek Klena (Wicked, Dogfight) are all scheduled to take part in the developmental reading. Dog and Pony will receive its World Premiere at The Old Globe next spring, running May 28 - June 29, 2014; casting for that production will be announced at a later time.

INTO THE WOODS, OTHELLO & More Included in Old Globe's 2014 Summer Season

The Old Globe today announced its 2014 Summer Season. Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will make his Summer Shakespeare Festival directorial debut with Shakespeare's great tragedy Othello. Presented in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, the Festival will also include Shakespeare's comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Globe alumnus and Tony Award nominee Mark Lamos (Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Pentecost, Resurrection Blues). The Summer Season will also feature Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods, which made its World Premiere at The Old Globe in 1986, in an inventive reimagining by Fiasco Theater, directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld, in a production that originated at McCarter Theatre Center. Rounding out the season is Ronald Harwood's comedy Quartet, directed by Richard Seer. Into the Woods will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre and Quartet in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, both part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets to the Globe's 2014 Summer Season are currently available by subscription only, and prices range from $92 to $332. 2013 Globe Gala Raises Over $1 Million for Artistic/Education Programs

The Old Globe's 2013 Gala, "A Magical Evening," netted more than $1 million for the theater's artistic and educational activities. Co-chaired by Nina Doede and Sheryl White, the black tie event was held on Saturday, Sept. 21 on the Globe's historic campus in Balboa Park. Lead underwriters for the evening wereAudrey S. Geisel and Darlene Marcos Shiley. Other major donors included Debra Turner and Conrad Prebys, along with Sheryl and Harvey White, Nina and Robert Doede, Vicki and Carl Zeiger, Mary Beth Adderley, Pam Wagner, Valerie and Harry Cooper, Gillian and Tony Thornley, Pam Farr, Elaine and Dave Darwin, Joan and Irwin Jacobs and Laurie Mitchell and Brent Woods, with many other guests making generous gifts.

Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh ('So You Think You Can Dance'), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul. The complete creative team and casting, as well as the remainder of the Globe's new season, will be announced at a later date. The Last Goodbye will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sunday, Sept. 22 - Nov. 3, 2013. The Midnight Pine and Stevie Harris Join The Old Globe's Jeff Buckley Tribute, 8/19

The Old Globe today announced that San Diego musical artists The Midnight Pine and Stevie Harris have joined the lineup for the Globe's one-night-only Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert on Monday, Aug. 19 at 7:00 p.m. The concert, which features several prominent local artists covering the songs of the legendary musician, coincides with the Globe's upcoming production of The Last Goodbye, a fusion of Buckley's music with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

The Old Globe Announces 2013-14 Season - Shakespeare, a World Premiere, CA Premiere and More!

Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein's inaugural season kicks off with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the electrifying songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. As previously announced, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) with choreography by Sonya Tayeh ("So You Think You Can Dance"). The 2013-14 Season will also feature the World Premieres of The Few by Samuel D. Hunter and Dog and Pony, a new musical by Rick Elice and Michael Patrick Walker. Edelstein will make his Old Globe directorial debut with Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. Rounding out the season are the California Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the West Coast Premiere of Bethany by Laura Marks, the J.B. Priestley classic Time and the Conways and Christopher Durang's current Broadway hit Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

BREAKING NEWS: Old Globe Postpones THE HONEYMOONERS Due to Scheduling Conflicts

The Old Globe today announced that its upcoming production of the The Honeymooners has been postponed due to a conflict with artist schedules. The world premiere musical by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss (book), Stephen Weiner (music) and Peter Mills (lyrics) was originally set to run at the Globe from Sept. 8 - Oct. 27, 2013 under the direction of Jerry Mitchell.
