CSC Extends THE HEIR APPARENT Through 5/11

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that its acclaimed production of David Ives' THE HEIR APPARENT, adapted from the play by Jean-Francois Regnard, will extend through Sunday, May 11 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). Directed by John Rando, THE HEIR APPARENT features Suzanne Bertish (Madame Argante), Carson Elrod (Crispin), Claire Karpen (Lisette), Amelia Pedlow (Isabelle), David Pittu (Scruple), Dave Quay (Eraste) and Paxton Whitehead (Geronte).
Playwrights Realm Sets Elizabeth Irwin's MY MANANA COMES & Anton Dudley's CITY OF for 2014-15 Season

The Playwrights Realm has announced the expansion of programming to include two productions as part of the 2014-2015 season. The first production will be the world premiere of MY MAÑANA COMES by next season's Page One Playwright Elizabeth Irwin, running August 26 - September 20, 2014 at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The inaugural Alumni Production will be the world premiere of CITY OF by Alumni Page One Playwright Anton Dudley, running January - February TBD, 2015 at a venue TBA. In an effort to further support and advance the careers of its playwrights, the Alumni Production will allow The Realm to produce new work by its growing contingency of Alumni Playwrights. The two productions were announced at the theatre company's seventh annual 'Writers Block Party' on Monday, April 7, 2014.

All the Way, the new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan, starring BREAKING BAD's Bryan Cranston, opened on March 6, 2014, on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre. The play is directed by Bill Rauch, Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where All the Way began its theatrical life. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, today announced plans for its 2014/2015 Season. The upcoming season for the esteemed off-Broadway company begins in October with Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO, directed by Tony Award-winner and CSC Associate Director John Doyle. ALLEGRO marks the second installment of CSC's Musical Theater Initiative, which launched last year with the company's hugely-successful production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion, directed by Doyle. Considered one of Richard Rodgers' and Oscar Hammerstein II's most personal and groundbreaking works, ALLEGRO was their third collaboration and first premiered on Broadway in 1947.

While waiting for the snow to clear you can show your metro card to purchase $20 tickets to see Roundabout Theatre Company's MACHINAL starring Rebecca Hall on Broadway. The $20 tickets go on sale at 10AM tomorrow morning, February 13. Machinal plays at 8pm tomorrow night at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42 Street). $20 tickets are available for purchase at the box office only. Machinal is a limited engagement through March 2.
Michael Cumpsty: Over 15 Years with Roundabout

Michael Cumpsty's first appearance on a Roundabout stage was in 1987 as a "moonstruck poet" in the Off-Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman. Since then, he has appeared in 17 Broadway shows including five Roundabout productions and has been nominated for a Tony Award and two Outer Critics Circle awards. Cumpsty's most recent appearance on Broadway is in Machinal, now playing at the American Airlines Theatre through March 2.

CSC is currently presenting Brecht's A MAN'S A MAN, directed by Brian Kulick and with a new score and new songs by Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik, continuing the company's exploration of the works of Brecht, which began in 2011 with the sold-out production of Galileo and was followed by last season's The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
