The Hill Country Community Theatre to Welcome Lisa Dalton for THE DARLING

As a special event this fall, the Hill Country Community Theatre will host actor Lisa Dalton as she presents a new translation of the Anton Chekhov short story The Darling. This unique one-person show, directed by Victor S. Tkachenko, has been performed in cities around the country, including Los Angeles, Fort Worth, and in New York as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC).

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces Clark Gable Slept Here opening tonight, September 18 on the Steve and Livia Russell Stage. This production runs through October 19, 2014, with Bryan Fonseca serving as director. The production will be a regional premiere, with the play having had its world premiere at Zoetic Stage in Miami earlier this year in the spring of 2014. Clark Gable Slept Here is the first production of the Phoenix Theatre's 32nd Season.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century (ERC) returns to Lenox, Massachusetts, for the second consecutive summer, with 12 performances of the fully staged theatrical concert, Beethoven Love Elegies. With a script drawn from Beethoven's letters and diaries and accounts by his contemporaries, interwoven with performances of some of his greatest music, this poignant, humorous, and emotionally intense production dramatizes Beethoven's young years in Vienna and his search for the perfect wife. Actor Kire Tosevski as Beethoven heads an outstanding company of five esteemed actors and four musicians (violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Sebastian Bäverstam, pianist Eve Wolf, and baritone Chad Sloane).

Penobscot Theatre Company Sets New Leadership for Dramatic Academy

Penobscot Theatre Company has announced the hiring of Amy Roeder-actor, writer, director, voiceover artist, and award-winning teacher/instructor-as its new director of education. In August Amy will relocate from Chicago where she has served among The Second City's elite corps. 'I saw Amy perform when I was at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta,' said Artistic Director Bari Newport, 'and she blew me away! She's a lifelong student of the craft, seriously dedicated and hilariously funny, which is why she shines on stage and also why she's one of Second City's most in-demand instructors. She has so much to offer our Dramatic Academy and we're excited to welcome her to the community.'

Toronto gets one more blast of snow as I settle in at Berkeley Street Theatre Upstairs to watch blustery Chekhov characters spend a summer holiday in the Russian countryside. A group of actors called The Chekhov Collective formed a year ago and began developing this production of The Seagull using the methods of Michael Chekhov, nephew of Anton Chekhov. The Seagull, which is heavy on theme and light on levity, is a self-referential play wherein Chekhov's characters examine what makes good theatre, good art, and good life.
