The New York Times reports today that the Tony Award statuette has grown up for 2010. Where the statue used to be 3 1/4 inches tall, weighing in at a 1 1/2 pounds, this year's prize is larger by almost double: standing 5 inches high and weighing 3 1/2 pounds.

Andrew Samonsky will replace Clarke Thorell in the role of third-class passenger Jim Farrell in the June 21 benefit concert of TITANIC, Grace Notes reported today. In this role, Samonsky will perform the new song 'Three Days' in its New York debut.

Yesterday, June 9, the Empire State Building hosted a reception in honor of the 2010 Tony nominees on the famed rooftop observatory. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the photo op and to take in the view.

The June 21 benefit concert of Broadway's Titanic has announced final casting and a song to make its New York debut. The benefit, which supports the New York Society for Ethical Culture (NYSEC), will take place in NYSEC's 800-seat Concert Hall, located at 2 W. 64th St. at Central Park West. Tickets, priced $15-20, are available at or by telephone at 212-352-3101. The concert is part of an evening of programming that includes a preshow talkback at 6:30, the presentation of the musical at 7:30, and a VIP reception after the performance.

The season, featuring 117 separate events, runs from June 3 through September 7.

Celebrating Stephen Sondheim's 80th Birthday this year, Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Producing Director Richard M. Parison, Jr., presents the musical thriller, SWEENEY TODD: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Directed by Julianne Boyd, with musical direction by Darren Cohen, Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece begins previews on June 17; opens June 23 at 7:00pm; and runs through July 17.

The Tony Awards today announced their line-up of performances for the 64th Annual Tony Awards Telecast on Sunday, June 13th. The show will be packed with entertainment from start to finish including a phenomenal opening and performances by Tony-nominated Best Musicals American Idiot, Fela!, Memphis and Million Dollar Quartet as well as the Tony-nominated Best Musical Revivals La Cage aux Folles featuring Kelsey Grammer, A Little Night Music featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Ragtime. On Sunday, May 23, the Drama Desk Association hosted the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone hosted the ceremony, which honored the best of Broadway and off in the 2009-2010 season.
