Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) opens the nomination process for The Zelda Fichandler Award on May 14, 2014. This award presents an unrestricted grant of $5000 to an outstanding director or choreographer making an exceptional contribution to the national arts landscape through theatre work in a region. Roundabout Theatre Company tonight opens Cabaret, starring Alan Cumming in his Tony Award-winning role as 'Emcee' and three-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams as 'Sally Bowles'. Tickets are now available through January 4, 2015. The production was originally scheduled to run through August 31.
Cumming isn't the only MC of Cabaret past to grace the stage of the Kit Kat Club. Other notable Masters of Ceremonies have included Michael C. Hall, Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Pascal, Raul Esparza and John Stamos. Check out vintage footage of all of them in action below!
Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.
