One of the many things that Adventure Theatre MTC does right its new gorgeous production of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach is to bring back director Michael Baron to the area. Since Mr. Baron left us a few years ago to take over as Artistic Director at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, his exit has a left a hole in the DC Theatre community, as a director who has consistently done great work. I should also point out that this production is being presented as a 'Co-Production with the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.'

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2016-2017 season will begin with the new musical Come From Away directed by Christopher Ashley. Productions include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? directed by Aaron Posner and featuring Holly Twyford as Martha; the musical Ragtime, directed by Peter Flynn and featuring an all-local cast including Kevin McAllister, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Nova Y. Payton; and the 35th-annual production of Washington's holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol. Political comedian Mark Russell will return for a one-night-only performance during the height of election season.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma presents its first production of the 2016 season, MANN... AND WIFE. This world premiere musical, running tonight, February 3, through February 21 at Lyric's Plaza Theatre, is the third musical to have its first full production at Lyric in the past three years. Written by Douglas J. Cohen and Dan Elish, and based on Elish's novel Nine Wives, the musical is produced in partnership with Larry Hirschhorn and Jayson Raitt.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) launches its 2016 year with the musical James and the Giant Peach, based on the popular book by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) with a score written by Tony Award nominated duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, A Christmas Story). Sponsored by Geico Insurance, James and the Giant Peach features a talented cast including Helen Hayes Award Nominated Jimmy Mavrikes (First Stage, Bat Boy) and the much-praised Tobias Young (Olney's Guys and Dolls). ATMTC Academy Pre-Professional Company Members, Eli Schulman and Henry Neipoetter, share the role of James. Directed by Helen Hayes Award Recipient and Artistic Director of The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Michael Baron, the show runs February 14- April 5, 2016. Oklahoma's favorite holiday tradition LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, presented by Devon Energy, is returning for the 2015 holiday season. Running December 2 through 27 this year at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's Plaza Theatre, Lyric is producing another beautiful rendition of the classic tale. Many cast members from past year's productions of the show are returning to reprise their roles.

Scott Fitzgerald short story of the same name, the show tells the story of 18 year old Bernice Harvey's journey from socially awkward to the belle of the country club- and back again. Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma presents BIG FISH, a new Broadway musical with a larger than life story, this summer at the Civic Center Music Hall. Based on the Daniel Wallace novel that inspired the Tim Burton film of the same name, BIG FISH runs tonight, July 21, through 25. The show will star Broadway's David Elder and Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner as Edward and Sandra Bloom, respectively.

This August, The Human Race Theatre Company begins a new chapter in its commitment to the development of new theatre with its first-ever Festival of New Works. This new festival combines the efforts of The Race's Musical Theatre Workshops and its Marsha Hanna New Plays Workshops into a unified program. 'It allows us to showcase what we do-musicals and plays-at one time of year,' says Human Race President and Artistic Director Kevin Moore. 'It's a better use of our resources and personnel. Plus, it creates a greater, more diverse experience for our audiences.' The 2015 Festival of New Works presents a collection of readings of five scripts-three plays and two musicals-by local, national and international writers. Readings will be held in the 60-seat Caryl D. Philips Creativity Center of The Human Race and The 212-seat Loft Theatre in downtown Dayton.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will produce BIG FISH, a new Broadway musical with a larger than life story, this summer at the Civic Center Music Hall.
