One of the many things that Adventure Theatre MTC does right its new gorgeous production of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach is to bring back director Michael Baron to the area. Since Mr. Baron left us a few years ago to take over as Artistic Director at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, his exit has a left a hole in the DC Theatre community, as a director who has consistently done great work. I should also point out that this production is being presented as a 'Co-Production with the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.'
Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2016-2017 season will begin with the new musical Come From Away directed by Christopher Ashley. Productions include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? directed by Aaron Posner and featuring Holly Twyford as Martha; the musical Ragtime, directed by Peter Flynn and featuring an all-local cast including Kevin McAllister, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Nova Y. Payton; and the 35th-annual production of Washington's holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol. Political comedian Mark Russell will return for a one-night-only performance during the height of election season.

Written by Douglas J. Cohen and Dan Elish, and based on Elish's novel Nine Wives, the musical is produced in partnership with Larry Hirschhorn and Jayson Raitt.
Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) launches its 2016 year with the musical James and the Giant Peach, based on the popular book by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) with a score written by Tony Award nominated duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, A Christmas Story). Sponsored by Geico Insurance, James and the Giant Peach features a talented cast including Helen Hayes Award Nominated Jimmy Mavrikes (First Stage, Bat Boy) and the much-praised Tobias Young (Olney's Guys and Dolls). Running December 2 through 27 this year at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's Plaza Theatre, Lyric is producing another beautiful rendition of the classic tale.
