Westport Country Playhouse has been awarded a $75,000 Challenge Grant from Newman's Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. In conjunction with the Playhouse's year-end fundraising appeal, Newman's Own Foundation will match all annual fund gifts up to $75,000 through December 31, 2018.

Westport Country Playhouse will present an open-caption performance in Spanish of the Tony Award-winning musical "Man of La Mancha," on Saturday, October 13, at 3 p.m. This is the first time in the Playhouse's history that an open-caption performance in a language other than English will be offered. An open-caption screen with the Spanish translation in real time will be located at the side of the stage and visible by all members of the audience.

Civic Rep will produce a season of work written by Tennessee Williams while in residence at Open Space on Vashon. Westport Country Playhouse's leadership issued the following statements today on the March 9th death of Howard J. Aibel, who served actively on the Playhouse Board of Trustees since 2005, most recently as Vice Chair. In February 2018, the historic theater named its entire campus "The Howard J. Aibel Theater Center at Westport Country Playhouse" in recognition of his $3 million gift. Aibel, age 88 of Weston, Connecticut, was a lawyer, conservationist, philanthropist, and arts advocate.
