Norm Lewis - the Tony Award nominated leading man who will soon make history as the first African-American Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway- will play the title role in a special industry reading of Mandela: A New Musical with book, music and lyrics by Steven M. The NYMF production of SWING STATE which stars Morgan Weed (currently in RENT at New World Stages, Saved and Next to Normal Off-Broadway) and Jed Resnick (Avenue Q on Broadway and currently in the Off-Broadway cast at New World Stages) begins its run at the 45th St. Theatre July 20th at 8pm. Set in Ohio, SWING STATE follows the unpredictable relationship that develops between Kindergarten teacher and Born Again Christian Bonnie (Weed) and her chiropractor Neil (Resnick), a gay atheist who arrives in Ohio fresh from New York City. The production has also added a performance to its NYMF run on Tuesday, 7/24 at 5pm.
