Lionsgate's THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is igniting the box office this weekend, as predicted.

Speculation is running rampant inside the entertainment industry that Lionsgate's upcoming THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE might ignite the box office this weekend as well. Early projections have the film likely to make more than $150 million in the US, and over $300 million worldwide, which would put it ahead of the last saga to capture the hearts of adults and teens - TWILIGHT. The film opens at 8pm on Thursday across the US, and the one thing that everyone agrees on is that it'll certainly eclipse its $142 million dollar predecessor which opened in March of 2012.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE director Francis Lawrence appeared on the red carpet at the film's LA Premiere last night and spoke to MTV News Josh Horowitz about the upcoming two 'Mockingjay' films that will close up the successful movie franchise.
