The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced the schedule for the 2010 Flint Hills International Children's Festival. Minnesota's signature arts festival for children and families features performing artists from Kenya, Peru, Canada and the U.S.A. Festival dates are June 1-6, 2010. For the third year in a row, Target ® Corporation has generously contributed to the Festival. Thanks to its gift, all tickets to indoor shows during Family Weekend cost only $5. All tickets are for general admission and can be purchased ahead of time through the Ordway Box Office. The Saturday performances of Mermaid Theatre are already sold out.

As part of an international celebration of what would be Johnny Mercer's 100th birthday next week, Larry Blank will be conducting a Johnny Mercer Tribute for the BBC's long running Friday Night Is Music Night programme at 7:30 PM London Time, 2:30 PM EST. The concert, which will be broadcast live on the internet in real time, features an overture written by Blank in addition to Johnny Mercer standards such as Moon River and Days of Wine and Roses with the BBC Concert orchestra and singers, Ruthie Henshall, Sally Ann Triplett, Nigel Harman and Curtis Stigers.

The Children's Festival takes place in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland, including Schenley Plaza. The Festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the United States.

The Pittsburgh International Children's Festival, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will present the 23rd annual festival May 13-17, 2009, in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland. The Festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the United States.
Featured Children's Festival performance sites include Charity Randall Theatre, Studio Theatre, Bellefield Hall Auditorium, Synod Hall and Carnegie Lecture Hall. The Festival grounds, free to the public, will complement the featured performances with hands-on cultural and educational activities, roving artists, booths, and exhibitors. The Target Community Stage returns this year as the center of outdoor Festival activities. The stage features a lively mix of professional artists and regional performance groups.
