For its 99th season, the National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene will present one of the largest productions in its history, the American premiere of a new musical based on the 1975 Academy-Award-nominated film Lies My Father Told Me adapted from the works of Ted Allan. At age 27, Christopher Massimine is the youngest theater executive to oversee the production activities within a major multi-million dollar theatrical organization. Previously holding the position of Marketing Communications Director at The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, he has now assumed the role as Producing Director where he will act as Supervising Producer on Folksbiene's forthcoming musical production LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME, a critical success in Canada making its American debut at Baruch Performing Arts Center on November 10 and running through December 15.

Lies My Father Told Me begins previews Sunday, November 10, at 2:00pm for a press opening Thursday, November 21, at 7:30pm at the Nagelberg Theater, Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue.

The Group Theatre Too (GTT) recently presented its sixth annual Choreographer's Canvas, a one-night event featuring the works of over fifteen established and emerging choreographers from around the country. The Canvas, headed by GTT Executive Producer Justin Boccitto, played at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on Saturday May 18th and showcased many styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, theatre dance, aerial and this year swing dance. Playing Off-Broadway for a four-week limited engagement from tonight, April 21 to May 12, the eye-popping purimshpiel carnival musical is directed by Motl Didner, with music direction by Zalmen Mlotek. The opening, sponsored by the Boston Beer Company, is set for Thursday April 25 at 7:30pm.

JCE features works from emerging to established choreographers, and this year, the performance will feature works from seasoned jazz veterans Sue Samuels and Crystal Chapman. Newcomers include Tyrell V. Rolle, who was featured on 'SYTYCD' in 2010, and Matt Pardo, a dancer from the Lucinda Childs Dance Company.
