Midsommer Flight to return for sixth season of bringing free Shakespeare to Chicago's parks

Midsommer Flight continues its fifth season of free Shakespeare programming, presenting a remount of last year's hit, a free indoor production of the comedy Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare, directed by Midsommer Flight's Producing Artistic Director Beth Wolf and music directed by Midsommer Flight's Resident Music Director Elizabeth Rentfro in partnership with the Lincoln Park Conservatory. This early winter production of Twelfth Night is presented in the Show House room at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, 2391 N. Stockton Dr., now through December 18. Stockton Dr. The limited holiday production runs from December 4 through 19: Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and due to popular demand, two new performances Sunday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.  Performances are free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged due to limited seating. A?fter mounting an impressive nine productions in suite 205 of the 4001 N Ravenswood building, Artistic Director Bob Fisher made the decision to close the doors on Zoo Studios in February of 2015­ only to reopen in a familiar place: the basement of 4001 N Ravenswood beginning in May of 2015.

Dedicated to presenting outdoor performances of Shakespeare's plays, Midsommer Flight is a proud arts partner with the Chicago Park District. Much Ado About Nothing runs today, July 19 through August 24, Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Much Ado About Nothing runs July 19 through August 24, Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The July 19 - 20 and 26 - 27 performances are at Schreiber Park, 1552 W. Schreiber Avenue, in the field at the corner of Bosworth Avenue and Schreiber Avenue. August 2 - 3 and 9 - 10 performances are at Gross Park, 2708 W. Lawrence Avenue, at the north end of the park along Gunnison Street. The August 16 - 17 and 23 - 24 performances are at Touhy Park, 7348 N. Paulina Street, in the southeast grove along Paulina Street. All performances will be presented free of charge (donations gratefully accepted). In addition, live music will be presented prior to each performance. Audiences are encouraged to come early and bring a picnic to enjoy this free programming. Red Theater will present the Chicago premiere of Red Hamlet by Aaron Sawyer and the Red Theater Collective at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave, March 15 - April 21. Sawyer, Red Theater's artistic director, directs the production featuring a cast of nine.
