MAD Announces New Trustees and Treasurer

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) announced today the appointment of two new Trustees: Andi Potamkin Blackmore and Simon Bolton. The Board of Trustees also named current Finance Committee Chair Michael Dweck Treasurer. The election took place at the December 8, 2016, board meeting.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 season on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3pm with the beloved star of stage and screen turned song-and-dance man Tony Danza performing his new hit show, Standards & Stories. Accompanied by his talented four-piece band, Brooklyn-born Danza will perform a selection of his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook, along with selections from the hit Broadway musical Honeymoon in Vegas (in which Danza starred), while interweaving stories about his life and personal connection to the music. NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, joined City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Congressman Charlie Rangel, Diane Collier, chair of Community Board 11, Friends of White Park and multiple community and children's groups to cut the ribbon on reconstructed White Park in East Harlem/El Barrio. The park has been reconstructed to better suit the needs of people of various ages and abilities, and to provide additional play and educational value for the neighborhood's children and young adults.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College is pleased to announce its 2016-17 World of Dance series. Since its inception in 1966, this series has showcased new works by more than 175 regional, national, and international companies. This year's lineup features the latest production from Buenos Aires tango company Estampas Porteñas, a celebration of the Chinese Year of the Rooster by the prestigious Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, and the much-anticipated returns of the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica and Step Afrika!.
