In celebration of Women's History Month, The Riverside Theatre - in partnership with City University of New York (CUNY) - will host its Third Annual Evening with Women of Excellence in the Arts event, acknowledging the profound contribution that women have made in entertainment and their anticipation of greater empowerment, involvement, and impact on the nation.
Carolyn Griffin has announced that MetroStage will be presenting the premiere of a new musical, Josephine Tonight, with book and lyrics by Sherman Yellen, and music by Wally Harper, through Mar. 18, 2012.
The Riverside Theatre will host the 3rd annual Women's History Month celebration coined, "An Evening with Women of Excellence in the Arts," on Monday, March 26th at 6pm. Five women will share an intimate discussion about their personal journeys in the industry. The esteemed panel will be moderated by Image Activist and Writer Michaela Angela Davis and will include, Lillias White, Melba Moore, Beverly Bond, Malikha Mallette, and Winsome Sinclair. The theatre is located in the historic Riverside Church at 91 Claremont Ave. (bet. 120th & 122nd St.), Morningside Heights. The event will be followed by a V.I.P reception sponsored by Given Liqueur. Sponsors include City College, Ashley Battle of the WNBA, Carol's Daughter, Iman Cosmetics , Hue-Man Bookstore and Completely Bare.

Monday, January 23 was the Aquarius New Moon AND Chinese New Year (year of the Dragon) - it was also the 80th birthday of one of our national treasures - James Rado - co-author of the legendary musical HAIR. Rado celebrated this milestone at The Copacabana, with a crowd of over 125 - family and friends - including original Broadway HAIR cast members - Natalie Mosco, Marjorie LiPari, Robert I. Rubinsky (aka Bobby The Middle-Aged Celebrity); HAIR alumni including Heather MacRae, André De Shields, Ula Hedwig, Zora Rasmussen, Dale Soules. Other guests included Luther Creek (SPIDER-MAN, 25th Anniversary tour of HAIR, RENT) who performed excerpts from Rado's latest musical AMERICAN SOLDIER (written with brother Ted Rado) at the party along with Rosalind Brown, A.D.
