Application Submission Deadline for Stamford Center for the Arts' Emerging Young Artist Scholarship Set for 2/25

For the 4th consecutive year, Stamford Center for the Arts will be awarding its Emerging Young Artist Scholarship Award to a talented vocalist, in honor of Liza Minnelli. The deadline to submit the completed audition form, resume and CD is February 25th. The recipient of this award will receive a $2,000 scholarship to pursue his/her musical education and will receive the award at the 4th annual Palace Theatre Gala on June 21st. The criteria and audition process for the scholarship is outlined on SCA's website at www.SCAlive.org on the Education page.

Auditions for applicants will be held at the Palace Theatre on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00pm. Three professional adjudicators will oversee the auditions: Brian P. Whitted, Paul D. Mills and Lynne Colatrella.

Mr. Whitted has starred as the pianist in Chicago on Broadway and has arranged for artists such as Roberta Flack, Stephanie Mills, Melba Moore, Tony Terry and Ashford & Simpson. He also recently made his Carnegie Hall debut as Bette Midler's arranger and pianist.

Mr. Mills has toured internationally as a pianist and vocalist and garnered three consecutive first-place finishes in the New England ACE Convention, Piano Competition. He is the founder and Executive Director of New Face Theatre in New York, and in the summer of 2012, the smash hit show Non-Equity The Musical!, which he wrote with Danielle Trzcinski had its sold out Off-Broadway debut. Mr. Mills also serves on the faculty of American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York.

Ms. Colatrella has been the Vice President of Events and Marketing for Stamford Downtown where she has worked for the past 14 years producing great events such as Alive @ Five and the Parade Spectacular. She co-founded Curtain Call, the community theatre company in Stamford, and served as the Executive Director until 1999. She has been a professional actress, singer and director/producer and has performed in over 200 shows in the NY metro area and has directed at SCA, Curtain Call and Stamford Schools.
