Dozens of stars from TV, sports, music and film will ante up and bet big to support talented young cancer researchers and change the future of cancer at Tower Cancer Research Foundation's (Tower) 3rd Annual Ante Up for a Cancer Free Generation Poker Tournament and Casino Night on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Sofitel Hotel, Riviera 31, 8555 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048. Samantha Harris, host of Entertainment Tonight, and former host of Dancing with the Stars, who is a breast cancer survivor, will be honored with the inaugural Cancer Free Generation Mission Award. Red carpet arrivals begin at 6:00 PM PST.
History's ROOTS Remake Draws 5.3 Million Total Viewers

The Memorial Day premiere of HISTORY's event series 'ROOTS' was watched by 5.3 million viewers, based on Nielsen Fast Nationals. Against heavy competition on both broadcast and cable, including Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Finals, 'ROOTS' became the #1 scripted mini-series premiere on cable since 2013 (A+E Networks' 'Bonnie & Clyde'). Airing on HISTORY, Lifetime, A&E and LMN, the 9pm premiere telecast of 'ROOTS' was watched by 2.1 million adults 25-54 and 1.8 million adults 18-49. Over the course of the night, 8.5 million viewers watched the episode (3 telecasts). These numbers are expected to grow significantly once Live+3 and Live+7 data becomes available.

The CW Network presented its 2016-17 schedule to advertisers, affiliates and national media at New York City Center in New York City today, kicked off by the rock band Fitz and the Tantrums performing their hit singles “Handclap” and “The Walker.”

It was revealed today that musician/singer/songwriter/actor Chan Marshall (also known as Cat Power) will be the voice narrating the upcoming Janis Joplin documentary “Janis” from Academy Award-nominated director Amy Berg (“Deliver Us From Evil,” “West of Memphis”). The documentary will have its much anticipated World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival where it was just selected to screen out of competition.
Windy City Playhouse Extends STICK FLY Through 7/19

Windy City Playhouse, Chicago's newest Equity theater, announces the cast for its sophomore production, Lydia R. Diamond's award-winning Stick Fly. This wisecracking family drama is directed by Chuck Smith, director of the play's 2006 world premiere production in Chicago, fresh off his successful run of Two Trains Running at the Goodman. Smith directs a stellar cast featuring Tyrone Phillips, Celeste Cooper, Paige Collins, Michael Pogue, Kristen Magee and Phillip Edward Van Lear, reprising his role of the patriarch from the original production. Stick Fly runs May 27-July 5 at Windy City Playhouse, 3014 W. Irving Park.
