The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that the Honorable Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been recognized with a 2013 Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.
Southampton art dealer Arthur T. Kalaher presented a fascinating survey of the works of Russian-born painter and poet, Nahum Tschacbasov at the National Arts Club covering his work from the 1930s until his death in 1984. This is the first important survey of his works in almost three decades. The exhibition which runs until June 16 is presented in conjunction with the 11th Annual Russian Heritage month sponsored by the Russian American Foundation in cooperation with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York Post. Due to increased demand, the International Jazz Day event Louis Armstrong at Freedomland: Never Before Heard Recordings of an American Icon, a Listening Session & Lecture on April 30th has been relocated to the Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center located at 10001 Northern Boulevard, Corona, NY 11368. The program presented by the Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Jazz Journalists Association was originally to be held at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona. The event is free and open to the public and includes a soul food reception; the program begins at 2:00 pm.

Grammy Award-winning superstar Barry Manilow's hometown concert event, Manilow on Broadway, began its limited Broadway engagement on January 18, 2013, at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Opening Night is set for Thursday, January 24, 2013. In recognition of the current production, a street corner at West 44th & 7th Avenue was renamed 'Barry Manilow Way,' beginning today, January 22. Emmy Award winner and Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris participated in an all-star event to christen the new Disney cruise ship 'Fantasy' in New York City last night. Also on hand at the event were comedian Jerry Seinfeld, New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Mariah Carey, who had the honor of christening the ship . The event took place at a Hudson River pier on the west side of Manhattan.

Theatre Development Fund (TDF), the nation's largest not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts has been named as one of the six awardees of the 2011 Mayor's Award for Arts and Culture. The award will be presented by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Alec Baldwin in a ceremony at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center on Tuesday, November 1 at 6pm. The event will feature live performances by leading performing arts organizations, and appearances by special guest artists.
Now in its 7th year, National Dance Week-NYC (NDW-NYC), a yearly festival that advocates dance conditioning and wellness, will offer more than 100 FREE dance, fitness and wellness classes over the course of 10 days, starting June 17, 2011. The festival will commence with a flash mob in Union Square followed by a kickoff event at Union Bar on Wednesday, June 15. A culminating performance to celebrate NYC arts will take place at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance on Sunday, June 26 and will feature presentations by American Tap Dance Foundation: Tap City Youth Ensemble, Aveia, Ballet Noir, Billy Elliot the Musical, COBU, Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn, Flamenco con Magdalena, The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, and Marie-Christine Giordano Dance.
