Gourmet Symphony to Play Atlas Performing Arts Center on Valentin's Day

Gourmet Symphony announces its first full-scale event to be held at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE Washington, DC 20002) on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 7 pm. The four-course culinary inspired concert features a 30-piece orchestra led by conductor John Devlin, performing masterpieces by beloved composers in an all-inclusive evening that celebrates the synergy between food, drink, and classical music. Tickets are $125 and currently on sale at atlasarts.org.

Celebrated American pianist Simone Dinnerstein will join the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra to perform the Piano Concerto in G major by Maurice Ravel in concerts at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 8pm.Music Director José-Luis Novo, will also conduct the orchestra in The Garden of Fand by Sir ArnoldBax and Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life) by Richard Strauss.

Jessye Norman to Perform at Carnegie Hall with Pianist Mark Markham on Valentine's Day

Grammy-Award winning soprano Jessye Normanreturns to Carnegie Hall on Saturday, February 14 at 8:00 p.m. with pianist Mark Markham for a special Valentine's Day program entitled Hooray for Love! The concert features classics from musical theater and the Great American Songbook including selections by Harold Arlen, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, and Duke Ellington, plus songs by Satie, Weill, Poulenc, Bizet, and others. This performance marks Miss Norman's first solo recital in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage since May 2008.

Ensemble ACJW to Perform Meredith Monk's BACKLIGHT at Weill Recital Hall, 2/16

On Monday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall, Ensemble ACJW-an inspirational collective of young professional musicians-performs the New York premiere of a new three-movement work Backlight by acclaimed composer Meredith Monk, holder of the Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall this season. Backlight, which plays sonically with the idea of shadow and light and was commissioned by Carnegie Hall for Ensemble ACJW, receives its world premiere by the group in the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Friday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m., as part of a week-long residency at Skidmore College. Both concerts also include Roussel's Trio for Flute, Viola, and Cello, and Ravel's Piano Trio in A Minor.

Sony Classical will release pianist Simone Dinnerstein's next album, Broadway-Lafayette, in the US on February 24, 2015. The music on this album celebrates the time-honored transatlantic link between France and America through the music of George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue), Maurice Ravel (Piano Concerto in G Major), and Philip Lasser (The Circle and the Child: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, written for Dinnerstein). The album was recorded with conductor Kristjan Järvi and the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, by Grammy-winning producer Adam Abeshouse.
