Premium entertainment network EPIX announced today it is offering baseball fans in and around 'Red Sox Nation' a close-up look at the life and accomplishments of one of sport's most colorful, thoughtful and productive stars, David Ortiz of The Boston Red Sox, in the EPIX Original Documentary, David Ortiz In the Moment. The special, produced by Relativity Sports in conjunction with Major League Baseball Productions, traces Ortiz's path from The Dominican Republic to stardom and lets us into 'Big Papi's' world. ROCK OF AGES Producer Matthew Weaver Planning Broadway Stage Adaptation of Variety Show SOUL TRAIN

Tony Award Nominated Producer Matthew Weaver (Rock of Ages) of MediaWeaver Entertainment - a movie, TV and stage production company - has acquired the theatrical stage rights to the trailblazing musical variety television series Soul Train. Created in 1970 by visionary Don Cornelius, Soul Train famously introduced the world to generations of new music and a whole new series of dance moves and styles on a weekly basis. Weaver acquired the rights from Soul Train Holdings, LLC. Weaver is now in talks with theater and film notables to come on board as the creative team for the Broadway production.

Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical ROCK OF AGES are have announced that direct from the Las Vegas production Carrie St. Louis will make her Broadway debut in the lead role of Sherrie - the 'small town girl' who 'took the midnight train goin' anywhere' - on Monday, April 21, 2014. Carrie St. Louis originated the role of Sherrie in the Las Vegas production, which opened on January 5, 2013, for which she received The Broadway World Las Vegas Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Finley will make his Broadway debut in the leading role of Drew beginning Friday, August 9, 2013 at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre (220 W 44thStreet). Justin Matthew Sargent, who has performed the role since March 2012, will play his final performance on Sunday, July 28 at 7:30pm. During the interim period, the role will be covered by Tony LePage.

ROCK OF AGES Brings In $8 Million in Second Weekend

Adam Shankman's ROCK OF AGES, which opened last weekend, brought in an additional $8 million in its second weekend, according to Boxofficemojo. As Broadwayworld previously reported, the musical earned $14.4 million in its opening weekend, and a total of $28,763,000. The movie took fifth place (behind Brave, Madagascar 3, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Prometheus), having the sixth-highest opening ever for a musical.
