Farmers Alley Theatre will kick off its season with Jason Robert Brown's emotive song cycle, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD – running October 8-24, directed by Broadway star and Kalamazoo native, Jerry Dixon who starred on Broadway in the musicals Once on this Island, Five Guys Named Moe and If/Then to name a few.

This summer, talented high school and college-age musical actors will bring the hits to life in Smokey Joe's Cafe, the annual collaboration between the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Arts Education department and the New Jersey Youth Theatre (NJYT).

Hoebee-Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. Among the early nominees and winners are Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway, Tony® award winner Laura Benanti, and 2011 Tony® nominee, Nikki M. James.
