Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project presents A Prelude to Pride: 'All About Steve,' a play on the 1950's classic film starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter. This variation stars Scott Daniel and Matthew McGee of 'Scott and Patti' fame, as well as other talent from around the Bay Area.
Imagination Stage is the new home of Giant Country in The BFG (Big Friendly Giant), a play based on the book by Roald Dahl and adapted by David Wood. Co-directed by Imagination Stage's Associate Artistic Director Kathryn Chase Bryer and Eric J. Van Wyk of Viterbo University, The BFG integrates puppetry, rich visuals, and imaginative storytelling as Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant go on a magical journey to save the children of England. freeFall Theatre's upcoming production of THE BURNT PART BOYS takes you out of St. Pete, Florida and deep into West Virginia's coal mines, following the very human experience of fourteen-year-old Pete, his brother Jake and their friends. As these daring young people journey into the coal mine known as "the burnt part", the same mine that took their fathers' lives, audiences are challenged to experience and perceive the streaks of light and the depths of the darkness that lie in each of us. By turns magical, inspiring, raucous, and playful it is a coming-of-age tale in the finest vein of the genre that people from all walks of life can relate to.
Drag performer and producer Daphne Ferraro brings her smash hit multi-media drag extravaganza to St. Pete just in time for Pride weekend. This show has packed houses throughout Central Florida and is a unique mix of comedy, history lesson and dazzling drag pageant. freeFall Theatre has announced an all-new cabaret as part of the immensely popular Tandem Series. Tampa Bay favorites Matthew McGee and Scott Daniel join forces to present 'MOTHER LODE'. This 90-minute salute to Mother's Day is a zany mother/son lounge act filled with outrageous humor, sequined costumes, popular songs, bouffant wigs and hilarious audience participation. Scott & Patti will be joined by The S & P band under the direction of Dave Hamar. MOTHER LODE promises to be the mother of all cabaret shows. The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2 as part of the Clarice Smith Repertory. STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn will direct both parts of this sweeping epic - one of Shakespeare's culminating achievements in the history play genre - over multiple nights. As Kahn says, describing Parts 1 and 2 as his favorite Shakespearean drama: 'It brings to the stage every issue we as human beings experience.' The two productions will run in the Company's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from today, March 25 - June 8, 2014.

With the brilliant work of Constellation Theatre, Bill Irwin's irreverent spirit is alive and well in their current production of 'Scapin,' adapted from Moliere's Les Fourberies de Scapin ('Scapin's Tricks'). It's not one of those moldy old comedies where you try to laugh like your distinguished ancestors might have laughed back in the day-It works because the production rocks, but also because the original author Moliere stole some of the best material from his stage-mates in the Italian Commedia dell' Arte, who were standup before there was standup, and whose sight gags and stock characters laid the foundation for every sitcom you love today.
