Pinchgut Opera's 2018 season sees some very exciting and bold directions with an Australian premiere production by 18th century master Hasse, the company's Melbourne debut and sensational casting headlined by four-time Grammy Award-nominated queen of opera, Vivica Geneux.

The 17th Annual Helpmann Awards will be announced at a ceremony on starting at 7pm EST Monday 24th July at the Capitol Theatre Sydney.

The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia's vibrant live performance industry and recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia's live performance sectors including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentation for children, regional touring and cabaret.

Born from a enthusiasm for disco and an appreciation for the returning popularity of the variety show, VELVET is a night of sheer entertainment. An amalgam of circus, burlesque, variety, and concert forms, the audience is taken on a disco journey that ends in a room full of dancing and unbridled joy.

Mosaic Theater Company of DC presents South Africa: Then & Now, a dynamic spring repertory that takes audience members back to the depths of Apartheid, before moving forward to the ongoing search for truth and reconciliation in a wounded country. Logan Vaughn returns to Mosaic for the second time this season to stage a companion South African drama, A HUMAN BEING DIED THAT NIGHT (April 6-30, 2017).

Mosaic Theater Company of DC presents South Africa: Then & Now, a dynamic spring repertory that takes audience members back to the depths of Apartheid, before moving forward to the ongoing search for truth and reconciliation in a wounded country. The repertory launches with Athol Fugard's seminal masterpiece, BLOOD KNOT (March 29-April 30, 2017)-an intimate parable about a brotherhood devastated by the constraints of Apartheid-under the direction of Studio Theatre Founding Artistic Director Joy Zinoman, making her Mosaic Theater Company debut.

Opera is for everyone-and so is Seattle Opera's 2017/18 season! There's a new bilingual performance for elementary-school students, new performance venues such as Georgetown Steam Plant, a new mainstage collaboration with ACT Theatre and Seattle Symphony leaders, and even an outdoor performance offered free of charge. Regardless of background or socioeconomic status, this season offers ways for a broad audience to be able to experience opera; it's an open invitation for the Pacific Northwest. 

Pinchgut Opera will showcase two of the most influential opera composers of all time in its 2017 season - the company's first in its 15-year history with a sole artistic director at the helm.

Salty Brine announces the premiere of a new cabaret, Good News, or Harry the Dog, as the latest installment in his series, Salty Brine's Spectacular Living Record Collection Cabaret. Salty Brine's Spectacular Living Record Collection Cabaret, which performs every Wednesday as part of Brine's residency at The Red Room (85 E. 4th St.), explores a different iconic album each month in a live cabaret setting.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. Dominic Cooke will direct his first theatre production since leaving the Royal Court in 2013, with a full cast featuring Nancy Crane, Griffyn Gilligan, Nick Harris, Christopher Imbrosciano, Oliver Johnstone, Kadiff Kirwan, Ryan McParland, Matthew Marsh, Anjli Mohindra, Luke Newberry, Pamela Nomvete, Abubakar Salim and Nathan Wiley. Nicholas Wright's engrossing and superbly acted drama deals with the man South Africans called Prime Evil.

Artistic Director Josie Rourke said: One of the things that most excites me about this season is the strong leading roles for women. It is a thrill to announce a season of work that features, in plays by living writers, women of the calibre and power of Zawe Ashton, Sinead Cusack, Michelle Dockery, Michelle Fairley, Genevive O'Reilly and Janet McTeer, who returns to the Donmar and the London stage. This, combined with the transfer of Phyllida Lloyd's second instalment in her trilogy of all-female Shakespeares to New York shows a programme of work in deep conversation with the lives of women and their status as actors on our stage. We continue our commitment to bringing topical and searing new plays to the Donmar with the British premiere of Christopher Shinn's Teddy Ferrara. I am particularly delighted that Dominic Cooke is returning to theatre and to his long-standing collaboration with Christopher Shinn to direct this production. On a personal note, I have long wanted to direct Christopher Hampton's superb Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and the cast we have drawn together is a testament to the brilliance of his play. As well as welcoming Janet McTeer back to the Donmar, I am thrilled that Dominic West will return to our stage in this production.
