The American Rep Theater of WNY concludes the highly acclaimed 2013-14 season with a world premiere of the original work, SHINE, written by Matthew LaChiusa on April 24th and runs until May 17th.

Presented by American Repertory of WNY, Directed by Matthew LaChiusa, HATFUL OF RAIN, is written by the Academy Award nominated actor known from GODFATHER II (Frank 'Five Angels' Pentangeli), Michael V Gazzo. Starting out as a Broadway playwright and writing for film (including the screenplay for Elvis Presley's KING CREOLE),Gazzo was an instrumental figure in the Actors Studio and went on to film and TV acting until his death in 1995.

With two acclaimed shows of the 2013-14 season in the books, American Repertory Theater of WNY sets sights on the 'Second Half' of the season. All presentations will be held at ART/WNY's new performance space, ART in the Box, located at 16 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo NY, in the Church of the Ascension.

In the Buffalo, New York area we are rich with theater and the arts.

Dubbed the season of 'ART Inside the Box', the company has moved from Bittner Hall into the basement of 16 Linwood location and has converted it into a black box theater performance space. ART/WNY decision to move from Bittner Hall into this space allows the company more flexibility with productions scheduled for the 2013-14 season as well as allows ART/WNY more of a permenent presences in the space. 'We can build, create and light environments without the overhanging pressure to tear it down and reset the whole thing, from platforms to light grid, for each production.' Added Executive/Artistic Director Matthew LaChiusa. 'That's going to add to the production values of each piece as well as make it more of a engaging experience for patrons.'

American Repertory Theater of WNY will present the Buffalo debut of Michael John LaChiusa's acclaimed musical classic piece, FIRST LADY SUITE. Described by The Guide to Musical Theatre, FIRST LADY SUITE is a 'four chamber pieces, ranging from riotously funny to hauntingly lyrical focusing on celebrated First Ladies and the people surrounding them.' Opening on March 1st and running until March 16th, this limited engagement will be presented at ART/WNY's home base at Bittner Hall, 16 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo NY.

This event is perhaps the most significant episode in recent American history and deserves the annual review scheduled by news, feature and public interest programming. The question is how to present provocative conversation while maintaining respect for the 911 legacy. With the utmost respect for this tragic event, the American Repertory Theater of WNY, Inc is proud to be presenting the powerful and compelling The Guys, written by Anne Nelson, to start the 2012-13 season.

The American Repertory Theater of WNY has announced its 2012-13 season with an exciting lineup filled with WNY debuts, an original musical and a tip o' the hat to Decision 2012. ART will also be operating out of new home as the sixth season will be producing five shows at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 16 Linwood Ave (corner of North Street), where the Allentown and Linwood districts connect.
