Disney's NEWSIES to Carry the Banner at Phoenix Theatre Next Month

Disney Theatrical's beloved musical, Newsies, is a terrific show for the whole family! Inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 and based on the 1992 film, Newsies follows Jack Kelly and a rag-tag group of newsies as they take on the biggest names in publishing in a remarkable fight for justice and fair pay.

Staged Readings Goodman Theater 14th ANNUAL NEW STAGES FESTIVAL

Goodman Theatre announces the casts for its one-time-only staged readings as part of its free 14th annual New Stages Festival, October 5-8. The four staged readings include: How to Catch Creation by Christina Anderson; Eden Prairie, 1971 by Mat Smart; The Untranslatable Secrets of Nikki Corona written and directed by Jos Rivera; We're Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time by David Cale, music by Matthew Dean Marsh. Plus, a sneak peek at an immersive work-in-progress POSTNATION conceived by Mikhael Tara Garver, an exploration of immigrants' roles in the creation of the U.S. Postal Service. Audiences also have the final opportunity to experience the three developmental productions (staged in repertory) during the weekend: Lottery Day by Ike Holter, directed by Lili-Anne Brown; Continuity by Bess Wohl, directed by Annie Tippe; and Twilight Bowl by Rebecca Gilman, directed by Erica Weiss. Justin Sayre, creator and host of the acclaimed comedy variety show and cult hit, The Meeting* of the International Order of Sodomites, will soon debut his new witty and sexy cabaret show, I'm Gorgeous Inside. 12th Annual Songwriters Project Participants Announced

The 12th annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project participants will take residency at Northwestern University from June 18 to 24 for an intensive week-long program of master classes and workshops that culminates with a public concert.

Berkeley Playhouse Announces Inaugural Benefit Event SHINE

Berkeley Playhouse Managing Director Gretchen Feyer announced today 'SHINE!', a special benefit performance of Billy Elliot the Musical on March 24, 2017. The pre-performance event begins at 6:00 p.m. with a festive reception in the historic Julia Morgan Theater that will include cocktails, light bites, and a decadent dessert bar hosted by some of the East Bay's top restaurants, caterers, and beverage specialists including Ann's Catering, Drake's Brewing Company, Le Mediterranee, Mariposa Bakery, Nabolom Bakery, Sutro Wine, Sweet Adeline Bakeshop, and Two Local Girls. The event will also include a special announcement regarding the East Bay theater company's upcoming 10th anniversary season, launching September 2017. In addition to the reception, attendees receive premiere seating to the company's hit production of the ten-time Tony Award-winning musical Billy Elliot, The Musical that begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Berkeley Playhouse continues their ninth season of professional theater for family audiences with the East Bay premiere of Elton John's Tony Award-winning musical, Billy Elliot the Musical. The company's first staging of the musical adaptation of the 2000 hit film includes thirty actors under the age of fifteen in two separate casts working alongside a company of professional adult actors.
