Cape Rep Theatre continues its 2017 season with the 10-time Tony-winning musical, BILLY ELLIOT, THE MUSICAL, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, music by Elton John, now through August 27. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Based on the international smash-hit film, and featuring a score by music legend Elton John, Billy Elliot, the Musical is an astonishing story of one boy's struggle to realize his dream. Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot, the Musical was the winner of 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Adapted as a musical by Lee Hall, who also wrote the screenplay for the film, Billy Elliot, the Musical was originally directed in London and on Broadway by the film's director, Stephen Daldry. Time Magazine. called it the "Best Musical of the Decade."

Billy Elliot, the Musical will be directed by Associate Artistic Director, Maura Hanlon, who recently directed Cape Rep's production of Men on Boats. The choreographer is Derek Roland who choreographed Cape Rep's 2012 hit, Monty Python's Spamalot. Musical Director Peter Hodgson is new to Cape Rep but recently served as musical director for Carrie, the Musical at Peregrine Theatre Ensemble in Provincetown. The production team includes Set Designer Christopher Bowser, costumes by Robin McLaughlin and lighting design by Susan Nicholson.

Cape Rep is delighted to introduce Cape audiences to Matthew Dean, a 13-year-old performer who began dancing at the age of 2, and who played the title role to great acclaim in productions of Billy Elliot, the Musical across the country. The cast is a wonderful mix of local performers and artists who are new to us, including Burke Brickner, as Billy's best friend, Michael, Tom Andrew, as Billy's dad, Jackie, and Christopher Phillips as Older Billy. Cape Rep favorite, Alison Weller, will be playing Mrs. Wilkinson and McNeely Myers will play his Grandma, with Nick Nudler as Tony Elliot, Caitlin Mills as Billy's Mum, and Nell Daisy Hamilton as Debbie.

We have a wonderful ensemble of local talent including Garrett Almeida (Big Davey), Charlie Bennison (George), Stephen Rourke (Mr. Braithwaite), Lindsey Erin Agnes, Andrew Cranin, Julien Lajoie, Macklin Devine, Madison Mayer, Morgan Dexter, Justin West, Alyssa Freeman, Larkin Fox, Grace Olah, and Eden Milczanowski.
