Based on the international smash-hit film, and featuring a score by music legend Elton John, Billy Elliot, the Musical is an astonishing story of one boy's struggle to realize his dream. Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot, the Musical was the winner of 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Adapted as a musical by Lee Hall, who also wrote the screenplay for the film, Billy Elliot, the Musical was originally directed in London and on Broadway by the film's director, Stephen Daldry.
