Having bid an emotional farewell to their longstanding event series back in 2015, the team behind Southport Weekender has announced its return with a one-day festival on Saturday 10th June at London's Finsbury Park.
Ott & The All-Seeing I is a live four piece band featuring Ott (electronics), Naked Nick (vocals, guitar, synths, and percussion), Chris Barker (bass), and Matt White (drums). They will be dragging themselves out from the darkness of the studio to the bright lights of the road this May. Having spent the last year writing and recording what will become their debut LP, the band will be surfacing to showcase what they've created so far. They will be criss-crossing the US this summer, showcasing a selection of brand new, collaboratively-written original material, alongside the classic Ott tunes you already know and love.

Growing up the son of a minister is never easy, especially when you turn out to be gay. Adam Bailey tackles this aspect of his youth in the follow up to his 2014 Best of Fringe win in Toronto. Throughout the evening Adam shares several true and frank stories about the deeply internal conflicts that exist between sexuality and religious faith. The show promises not to pull punches or be sentimental, instead Adam uses a postmodern whimsy to take us from bible studies in banquet halls to bathhouse dates to his dalliances with pharmaceuticals in a performance that "flies by like a church service on speed" (CBC News Manitoba).

The brilliant young trumpeter, composer, and educator Matt White steps out with a lively and compelling debut titled 'The Super Villain Jazz Band,' to be released October 1 by Artists Recording Collective. A quintet/sextet effort recorded in Nashville, the album is a postbop update that goes beyond the usual formulas with its restless sense of invention in through-composed settings.
Now in its fifth year, the Boston Comedy Arts Festival continues to kick-off the Fall with an explosion of comedy. This year, the festival runs from Tuesday September 3-Sunday September 8. It will include shows at ImprovBoston and at the Brattle Theatre. The festival begins with two performances from the famed Cambridge Footlights, and will also include shows with Kevin McDonald from Kids in the Hall and Jimmy Tingle. The festival will also see the return of improv from Junior Varsity and the Magnet Theater Tour Co.
