Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, the Award Winning writers of Invisible Thread (Second Stage and ART) will present a workshop of their new musical THE FAMILY PROJECT in May. The new piece was written as a commission for Los Angeles Center Theater Group.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director; David Roberts, Managing Director), will open its spring season with their 2nd Annual Spring Fundraiser, April 11, 2016. An intimate evening of music featuring the breathtaking vocals of Mykal Kilgore, most recently seen at CTH as Benny Raindrop in The Classical Theatre of Harlem's original musical, The First Noel at The Apollo Theater, and NBC's The Wiz Live. The Classical Theatre of Harlem's 2016 season is rounded out with its yearly free Uptown Shakespeare in the Park production of Macbeth in the summer, a new production of Fit For the Queen by renowned playwright Betty Shamieh, its ongoing monthly Reading Series, and the Apollo Theater mainstage production of The First Noel.

The American Theatre Wing announced today that the 2016 Jonathan Larson Grants recipients are Cesar Alvarez (book, music and lyrics), Nikko Benson (music and lyrics), Carson Kreitzer (book and lyrics), and Sam Salmond (book, music, and lyrics). Four prestigious grants of $10,000 each, totaling $40,000, will be presented on Monday, March 21, 2016 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

The highly anticipated Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's HUGHIE starring Academy Award winner, Golden Globe Award winner & BAFTA winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, The Butler, Southpaw) and Tony Award winner Frank Wood (Side Man, Angels In America, Clybourne Park), officially opened last night, February 25, 2016, at Broadway's Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Directed by Tony Award winner and Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage (Photograph 51, Red, Frost/Nixon), HUGHIE will play a strictly limited engagement. The powerful evening - part concert, part theater, part call to action - intertwines heart-thumping Afro-pop sounds and heart-wrenching stories.
