Palm Beach Dramaworks Launches 2012-13 Season with TALLEY'S FOLLY, 10/12

Lanford Wilson's romantic comedy, Talley's Folly, will launch Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2012-13 season on Friday, October 12 (8PM) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre (201 Clematis Street). The production will play a strictly limited engagement through November 11, with specially priced preview performances slated for October 10 and 11.

Mad Cat Theatre Company Presents THE HAMLET DOG AND PONY SHOW, 7/26-8/12

Wrapping up Mad Cat Theatre Company's 12th season, is yet another World Premiere, this time a play written by Jessica Farr and Paul Tei. THE HAMLET DOG AND PONY SHOW is a deconstruction of Shakespeare's tragedy, HAMLET. Their take not only allots the age old question "To be or not to be" but contemplates whether or not the question is even still valid in today's hypermodern society. Through the use of music, multimedia and puppetry, The Hamlet Dog and Pony Show, directed by Paul Tei, is a tragedy of errors that remains in dialogue with the dead in order to build a method for which to go on living.

THE EDGE OF OUR BODIES Mosaic Theatre Presents Acclaimed Season Finale

Award-winning Mosaic Theatre continues its tradition of staging thought-provoking dramatic work with its production of 'The Edge of Our Bodies" by celebrated author Adam Rapp, the fifth and final show of Mosaic's landmark Eleventh Anniversary Season. Over the past year, Mosaic has staged some of the most memorable moments in theatre, including its sold-out production of Eric Simonson's hit play "Lombardi" and most recently, Mosaic's critically acclaimed World Premiere production of "A Measure of Cruelty" by Joe Calarco. As its season finale, Mosaic brings to the stage "The Edge of Our Bodies," a major hit at the 2011 Humana Festival.

"A Measure of Cruelty" tells the story of a peaceful South Florida neighborhood rocked by headlines, and a local bar owner struggling to keep the peace with his son. But as a storm grows ever closer, the men are forced to come to terms with each other and their long-guarded secrets. Carbonell Award-winning director Richard Jay Simon will stage this exciting new play with a creative team that includes resident set designer Douglas Grinn, lighting designer John Hall, sound designer Matt Corey (2011 Carbonell Award Winner), resident costume designer K. Blair Brown, production stage manager Linda Harris and graphics/photography by George Schiavone.

Special priced preview performances are slated for May 4th (2PM & 8PM) & 5th (8PM) and the production will play through June 19th.

Carbonell Award Winners Announced - S. Florida Celebrates Outstanding Theater

South Florida revelers gathered on Monday evening to celebrate an artistic standard in the community - the region's theatrical talent. The 35th Annual Carbonell award ceremony played out amongst theatre-goers, actors, producers, directors and cast and crew members from some of South Florida's most renowned stages at the Amaturo Theater at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. 'Tonight we celebrated the artistry of live theatre through camaraderie, laughter and reflection...and honored the creativity of powerful stage and costume design, fabulous music and unsurpassed talent,' says Scott Shiller, Vice Chairman, Carbonell Awards Board of Directors and Executive Vice President of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. 'It's been a fabulous evening!'

Carbonell Award Nominations Announced

A musical about a war-time romance and a controversial play that took audiences to the depths of humanity top the list of nominees for the 35th annual Carbonell Awards, celebrating the best shows and performances in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
