A community's point of view is expressed through the local art scene, and Santa Barbara's On The Verge Festival promotes underrepresented points of view by producing theatre by female playwrights, LGBTQIA playwrights, and playwrights of color. In its third year, On The Verge's company of young artists delivers an enthusiastic community atmosphere and theatre that's accessible in cost and pertinent in subject matter.
A company created to bring exciting theatre to Santa Barbara in the summer doldrums between Solstice and Fiesta, On the Verge's mission is to galvanize local playwrights, performers, and designers to create shows that are attractive to a diverse audience demographic, especially the younger crowd.
Santa Barbara high school students bring audiences a range of exciting musicals, including Legally Blonde, Crazy for You, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Young Frankenstein.
