Meet the Current Casts of Broadway's Long-Running Hits - PIPPIN!

A great, big Broadway season is on its way, with fourteen productions already slated to open in the next few months. With several weeks until the craziness begins, there is still plenty of time to catch up on what's been going on at Broadway's already occupied theaters . BroadwayWorld will be profiling the hits of the Great White Way that continue to draw crowds after months, years, and (in some cases) decades. Meet the current cast of Broadway's Pippin below!

BWW Interview: Chicago's Dynamic Duo AMY AND FREDDY Headline The Copa Palm Springs, Beginning Tonight

The COPA PALM SPRINGS presents Chicago, music and comedy legends Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen for two performances, July 18 and 19 at 8:00 pm. Amy and Freddy have graced the stages coast-to-coast, both large and small, and in over 20 countries with their one-of-a-kind wit and musical prowess. They have had the pleasure of opening and sharing the spotlight with some familiar (and some not so familiar) names including Kathy Griffin, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Phyllis Diller, Bea Arthur, Jennifer Holiday and Judy Gold to name a few. In 2009, Amy & Freddy were featured on national television on Entertainment Tonight as part of their work with the NBC reality show "America's Got Talent. They are also the proud multi-recipients of both the Gay Chicago Magazine "After Dark" and Chicago Free Press "Pressie" awards. I had the chance to chat with Amy and Freddy about their upcoming engagement at THE COPA and more - here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

Over two dozen stars of film, stage and television were given a standing ovation by a sold out crowd for the 30th Anniversary of S.T.A.G.E. at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, CA Saturday, May 10, 2014. And, on hand to get up close and personal with the stars, were BWW TV's longtime Los Angeles Correspondent and Co-Producer Michael Sterling with Videographer/Co-Producer, Jordan Santacana. TSGO Opens New Venue for Music and Theatre Today

The Show Goes On Productions (TSGO) will present an Off-Broadway sized club venue dedicated to both live music and theatre: THE HYBRID. The LAUNCH PARTY will be tonight, February 1st, from 6 - 10pm, followed by a dance party upstairs in the Culture Club. Musical guests include Maximus England Shaban, the dudes from Bromance, the Dudesical, and Mimi Cohen from A Celebration of Laura Nyro - To Carry On.

Tony DeSare Makes Debut with Houston Symphony This Weekend

This weekend, January 24, 25 and 26, the young and talented guest artist Tony DeSare will make his debut with the Houston Symphony, led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski, for an evening of contemporary music made popular in the last half of the 20th century. DeSare, a dynamic and entertaining pianist and vocalist, will present a fresh take on radio favorites, as well as his own musical works, in an evening sure to fill audiences at Jones Hall with laughter and memories. Featuring arrangements of chart toppers like Prince's 'Kiss,' Journey's 'Faithfully,' The Bee Gees' 'How Deep is Your Love,' Bruce Springsteen's 'Fire' and original compositions like 'New Orleans Tango,' audience members are sure to get lost in the sultry and rhythmic backgrounds of these new classics.

Mary Wilson's Holiday Spectacular with The Four Tops to Join Chicagoland Choirs, 12/23-1/5

Chicago Choirs get the chance of a lifetime when they perform along-side Original Supreme Mary Wilson during "Mary Wilson's Holiday Spectacular Featuring Special Guests The Four Tops" December 23, 2013 - January 5, 2014 at the Harris Theater (205 E. Randolph St.). Seven Chicago choirs will perform throughout the limited engagement including Walt Whittman's Soul Children of Chicago, Shelly & Friends (members from Salem Baptist Church and Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Morgan Park), Calvin Bridges & Friends, Central Missionary Baptist Church Inspirational Choir, Dr. Issac Whittmon & the Greater Metropolitan Church, Dr. Alfred Wheeler & Blessed Music Ministry and Ramon Perry & the Ministry and Praise Chorale.
