MPAC to Welcome Smokey Robinson, 10/24

Smokey Robinson performs from over a half century of Motown memories such as 'Tears of a Clown,' 'Tracks of My Tears,' 'Shop Around,' and 'Cruisin,' at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 24 at 8 pm. Tickets are $79-129.

Smokey Robinson's HUMAN NATURE: THE MOTOWN SHOW to Play Eventim Apollo, 23 November

Direct from the USA and following 1000 Las Vegas headlining shows as well as two North American concert tours, Smokey Robinson Presents Human Nature: The Motown Show will have its first London performance on Sunday 23 November 2014 at Eventim Apollo. N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical, Sondheim on Sondheim), reunites with Pops Conductor Jack Everly to perform as a soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony in a new concert CLASSIC FM: RADIO HITS FROM THE DECADES. The Orchestra will take audiences on a musical journey through four decades of hits up and down the FM dial - from Elton John and Billy Joel to Aretha Franklin, Chicago and more! The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents its 33rd annual Marsh Symphony on the Prairie summer season at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park.

Cape Town City Ballet Announces Promotions

Cape Town City Ballet, currently in rehearsal for their July season at Artscape Theatre, recently announced the names of dancers promoted in the company. This exciting news was made known to the company after they returned from their autumn holidays. The dancers who have received promotions are (left to right): Elizabeth Nienaber, Bradley van Heerden, Kim Vieira, Daniel Szybkowski, Laura Bösenberg, Angela Hansford, Rosamund Ford and Thomas Thorne.

Holland Greco to Release 'Volume One' on 6/17

A Tuesday, June 17 release has been set for the first-ever original artist signing to Zappa Records not named Zappa this century, and HOLLAND GRECO lives up to the honor with an eclectic musical palette that is in full effect on her two-pronged album VOLUME ONE (Zappa Records on 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl disc, including digital download card and iTunes). VOLUME ONE presents GRECO's musical diversity in two sides: Tunnel Vision is a lighter collection of GRECO's original tunes and Murdergram: Songs Of The Misfits is an array of Misfits cover songs. Both sides allow GRECO to showcase the duality and diversity of her interests. VOLUME ONE will be available at the Barfko-Swill shop online.

BWW Reviews: MOTOWN THE MUSICAL Makes For Catchy, Frothy Fun But Little Else

'Motown the Musical' plays out like a veritable hit parade. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, this first national touring production showcases Motown Records producer Berry Gordy's greatest songs as performed by some capable onstage talent. The show makes for a lively and fun evening at the theatre but provides little in the way of truly meaningful plot or character development.

N'Kenge, James Jackson Jr and More Set for Reading of 54: THE MUSICAL, 3/30

A reading of the Broadway-bound new musical 54: The Musical will be presented March 30 at TADA Theatre in Manhattan. Emerging Artists Theatre presents this reading as part of its New Work Festival. The musical features a score of disco hits and cult classics from the golden age of Studio 54. 54: The Musical was conceived and written by Renee Bang Allen.
