Housewives creator Marc Cherry has been in search for a new trouble-maker for the block since Nicolette Sheridan's departure from the show. TVGuide.com reports that Lois Smith will be the newest member of Wasteria Lane this upcoming season, playing the role of 'Allison Scavo,' mother to 'Tom (played by Soug Savant). Smith's character will be taking up residence with 'Lynette' (Felicity Huffman) and 'Tom' in order to help him beat a case of postpartum depression.

Kazan will be Teri Hatcher's character Susan's new entrepreneur neighbor. The seventh season of 'Desperate Housewives' also added Brian Austin Green and Vanessa Williams.

An ABC rep as confirmed to TV Guide.com that Vanessa Williams will join the cast of Desperate Housewives as a series regular next season. Housewives creator Marc Cherry has been in search for a new trouble-maker for the block since Nicolette Sheridan's departure from the show. While very little is known about her role and participation int the show at this point, it is rumored that her character will be very closely associated with 'Paul' (played by Mark Moses).

Two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, alongside co-star Viola Davis, a Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee herself, opened the first Broadway revival of FENCES last night at the Cort Theatre. The 1987 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by August Wilson was directed by Kenny Leon. The strictly limited 13-week engagement began previews on April 14. BroadwayWorld was there to capture the starry arrivals as they arrived in the rain for the big night.

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation hosted its 19th annual A Magical Evening gala on Monday, November 9, 2009 at The Marriott Marquis in New York City. This year's gala recognized the results of a recently published study sponsored by the Reeve Foundation, which shows that 5.6 million Americans are living with paralysis, 1.275 million of those as a result of spinal cord injury.
