RIOULT Dance NY Receives NEA Grant to Support New Work POLYMORPHOUS

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu announced today that RIOULT Dance NY is one of 919 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. RIOULT Dance is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the creation and presentation of Artistic Director, Pascal Rioult's new work entitled Polymorphous.

Marin Alsop to Lead BSO in THE RITE OF SPRING Next Month

Music Director ?Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Also on the Classical Concert Series program are Barber's Medea's Meditation and Dance of Vengeance and Osvaldo Golijov's Rose of the Winds (BSO premiere). The Rite of Spring is the subject of Maestra Alsop's third Off the Cuff program of the 2014-2015 season, held Friday, January 9 at 8:15 p.m. at Strathmore and Saturday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Meyerhoff. Capitalizing on Marin Alsop's charismatic way of illuminating classical music, the Off the Cuff programs focus on one masterwork, allowing the Maestra to discuss the back story of the piece and the composer's life. Tickets to Gotham Chamber Opera's THE TEMPEST SONGBOOK Now On Sale

Tickets are now on sale for Gotham Chamber Opera's final production of the 2014/2015 season, The Tempest Songbook, comprised of incidental music for The Tempest composed in 1695 and attributed to Henry Purcell and Kaija Saariaho's 2004 Tempest Songbook for soprano, baritone and period instrument ensemble, in its U.S. and World Stage Premieres.A co-production with The Martha Graham Dance Company, The Tempest Songbook will be performed in The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, with three performances from March 27 - 29, 2015. Performances: Friday and Saturday at 7pm, Sunday at 3pm. Tickets range from $30 to $175 and are available at metmuseum.org/tickets.

Happy Birthday, Graciela Daniele! As a performer, Daniele made her Broadway debut in What Makes Sammy Run? in 1964. She studied with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham while working with such luminaries as Bob Fosse, Agnes de Mille, and Michael Bennett, who hired her to assist him with Follies in 1971. Her first credit as a full-fledged choreographer was the 1979 revival of The Most Happy Fella. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, including, most recently, The Glorious Ones (2007) and Dessa Rose (2005) at the Off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Michael John LaChiusa Off-Broadway, most recently Bernarda Alba (2006) and Little Fish (2003).

The Noguchi Museum is pleased to announce that designer Jasper Morrison and architect Yoshio Taniguchi will receive the second annual Isamu Noguchi Award, given to recognize kindred spirits in innovation, global consciousness, and Japanese/American exchange. Motohide Yoshikawa, Ambassador of Japan to the United Nations, will present the award during a special ceremony at The Noguchi Museum's annual Spring Benefit on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. This event is part of a year of celebratory programming in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Museum's founding by Isamu Noguchi.

Nimbus Dance Works Comes to Barrow Mansion Tonight

Jersey City resident Samuel Pott's Nimbus Dance Works will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary Season tonight, November 8 at 7PM with a benefit performance at the Barrow Mansion, located at 83 Wayne Street in Historic Downtown Jersey City. This performance will include some of its most beloved repertory works, including Memo, and Surface Tension. Also being performed is an excerpt from a provocative new work being premiered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on May 8 & 9, 2015.
