'Portraits of the World: Switzerland' is the inaugural exhibition in a series that will highlight the global context of American Portraiture.

Featuring shining talent from Hong Kong, Taitung and Seoul, Tale of Three Cities delves into the history of time-honoured cultures. Retracing our roots and contemplating modern life, the dance performance depicts our innate longing to return to nature. Dance Master and Choreographer of the Hong Kong Dance Company, Xie Yin, along with internationally acclaimed choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, member of the Paiwan tribe in Taitung, and emerging Korean choreographer Han Hyo-lim set to explore the potential of the body within the context of intangible heritage telling stories about their homes through the body.

Catherine Cabeen/Hyphen presents the world premiere of Give Me More, a three-part work exploring the relationship between conditioning, consumption, and self-worth. The program features choreography by Catherine Cabeen, a cast of seven performers, and lighting design by Philip Trevino. Performances will take place Thursday Saturday, January 25 27, at 8pm, at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, in Manhattan.

Japan Society proudly presents the New York City premiere of SITI Company's striking interpretation of Yukio Mishima's play Hanjo, created and performed by the internationally acclaimed ensemble theater SITI Company, in a new English Translation by SITI Co-Artistic Director Leon Ingulsrud, who also directs. Arriving as part of the NOH-NOW Series within Japan Society's Fall 2017-Winter 2017 Performing Arts Season, coinciding with the Society's 110th Anniversary, this production will have three performances, December 7 9, at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street).

Juilliard Dance, under the leadership of acting artistic director Taryn Kaschock Russell, opens its season in December with New Dances: Edition 2017 featuring four world-premiere dances created for Juilliard students by choreographers Bryan Arias (first-year class), Gentian Doda (second-year class), Roy Assaf (third-year class), and Gustavo Ram rez Sansano (fourth-year class). In January 2018, Joe's Pub at The Public presents its annual slate of showcases coinciding with APAP NYC 2018, January 12-16, the annual Association of Performing Artists Presenters conference drawing presenters from around the world.

At the vanguard of Boston's classical music scene, Odyssey Opera and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) present the world premiere of the live performance of The Trial at Rouen by Norman Dello Joio. A semi-staged, English-language production led by conductor Gil Rose, The Trial at Rouen unites Odyssey Opera (one of the nation's most innovative opera companies), BMOP (the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music), and internationally renowned singers Heather Buck (Joan of Arc) and Stephen Powell (Pierre Cauchon). This marks the third and most condensed opera of Odyssey Opera's Trial by Fire: Joan of Arc and the Hundred Years' War, a season-long exploration of operatic works inspired by martyr, saint, and military leader Joan of Arc.

As part of its Studio Series, the Martha Graham Dance Company will present a special holiday performance of Martha Graham's beloved masterwork Appalachian Spring. The complete dance will be presented in costume and with the classic Noguchi set, and will be introduced by Graham Company Artistic Director Janet Eilber. Performances are Today, December 1, at 7pm, and Saturday, December 2, at 1pm (family matinee) and 6pm.
