Hong Kong Dance Company Presents The Works Of Emerging Choreographers With TALE OF THREE CITIES Featuring shining talent from Hong Kong, Taitung and Seoul, Tale of Three Cities delves into the history of time-honoured cultures. Retracing our roots and contemplating modern life, the dance performance depicts our innate longing to return to nature. Dance Master and Choreographer of the Hong Kong Dance Company, Xie Yin, along with internationally acclaimed choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, member of the Paiwan tribe in Taitung, and emerging Korean choreographer Han Hyo-lim set to explore the potential of the body within the context of intangible heritage - telling stories about their homes through the body.

Hong Kong Dance Company "Four Seasons"

Once the Fragrant Harbour of the Orient, we celebrate its rich soil that has nurtured generations of people. Yet, as the seasons come and fade, how far have we drifted from our essence? The cycle of life births death and rebirths... Experience the four seasons as dancers embrace each note with classic movements. Where will the wind take us next, away from the banality of everyday life?

Bulareyaung Dance Company "Qaciljay" (Taitung)

Celebrating the Paiwan culture, Qaciljay means 'stones' in the indigenous language, and refers to the pristine landscape of eastern Taiwan. Inspired by traditional songs and dances of the tribal community, the dancers were taught how to cultivate the land in order to nourish their bodies. Holding hands and chanting ferociously, the dance illustrates the sacred union of the indigenous people and the earth.

Han Dance Project "Furious Sea - Memory on Ube" (Seoul)

The dance commemorates the victims of the 1942 Chosei Coal Mine disaster, remembered for the anguish they suffered.

The Hong Kong Dance Company is presenting Tale of Three Cities at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium from 2 to 4 February 2018.
