Growing up with fairy tales we are used to a happy ending. In the movie, the guy always gets the girl. But THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY playing at Starlight Theatre changes all of those preconceived notions.

 Lake Forest Theatre presents its inaugural season opener, THE SECRET GARDEN, opening June 10 and running through July 2, with the press opening on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. Managing Artistic Director Steve Malone will direct the season opener at the newly renovated John & Nancy Hughes Theatre, 400 East Illinois Rd. in downtown Lake Forest. The production will be accompanied by a 15-piece live orchestra.

?The two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, The Bridges of Madison County, brings its undeniable and irresistible tale of romance to Starlight Theatre on June 14-19. One of the most romantic stories ever written, The Bridges of Madison County won 2014 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations. This musical adaptation of the best-selling novel and popular film is sure to pull at the heartstrings of Starlight audiences.

Due to popular demand, the Arden Theatre Company announces a one-week extension of THE SECRET GARDEN. Based on the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, with music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Marsha Norman, the show, originally scheduled to close on Sunday, June 19th, will now close Sunday, June 26, 2016.

The musical which premiered at Lincolnshire's Marriott Theatre last August is scheduled to open at San Diego's The Old Globe in September.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place today, Friday, June 3rd from 12:30pm-2:30pm in Shubert Alley. The 7th Annual Lilly Awards Ceremony, which celebrates women of distinction in the American Theater, were presented yesterday, May 23, at the Signature Theatre (480 West 42nd St). This year's honorees included: Tony Award-winner and 2016 Tony Award nominee Jessie Mueller,Kathy Najimy, Genne Murphy, Candis Jones,Rehana Lew Mirza, the women of Waking the Feminists, Danai Gurira, Martha Plimpton, Kate Whoriskey, and Mia Katigbak.

Cynthia Erivo has won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her role as Celie in THE COLOR PURPLE.

THE COLOR PURPLE has won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. The original production ran on Broadway in 2005 and earned eleven 2006 Tony Awards nominations.

SPACE on Ryder Farm, the non-profit artist residency program located on Ryder Farm, an idyllic 200 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, New York announced its 2016 season for The Working Farm, Family Residency, Creative Solutions Symposium and Artistic Residency programs at The Players Club. In attendence were Josh Charles, David Bar Katz, Michael Urie, and Marsha Norman, as well as 2016 SPACE residents Cusi Cram, Daisy Foote, Adam Rapp, and recipients of the inaugural Relentless Award--Clare Barron and Sarah DeLappe.

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director, Gabriel Shelian-Shanks) gathers today for the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, hosted by 2016 Tony® Award-nominees, Zachary Levi (She Loves Me) and Megan Hilty (Noises Off), in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).
