This summer is going to be busy with Boxcar's biggest project to date: Three sizzling Tennessee Williams plays running in repertory. Sound insane for a black box theatre? That's exactly why Boxcar's Artistic Directors thought to do it. With three rolling openings one week after another, the ensemble will then go into a traditional nightly rep schedule with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Directed by Jeffrey Hoffman), A Streetcar Named Desire (Directed by Rebecca Longworth) and The Glass Menagerie (Directed by Jessica Holt). The Tenn Will Project, as it is being referred to as by the artistic team, caps off a very ambitious 13-play season by Boxcar, and defines their season of 'Re-Imagining the Familiar.'

The world premiere of A Tribute to a Legend: Davi Sings Sinatra opens at Hofstra University's John Cranford Adams Playhouse for three special concerts - Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 18, at 2 p.m.

According to Michael Riedel this morning, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith may be leading a production of Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway next year as Stanley and Stella, respectively. Reportedly, the pair have been approached by producers and are considering the possibility. Emily Mann will direct the production, which will be produced by Stephen Byrd. One of America's greatest songwriters will be honored on his 100th birthday with the broadcast of the documentary, 'Heart & Soul: The Life and Music of Frank Loesser.' The film will air on Turner Classic Movies at 10:15pm EDT on June 29, 2010, the centennial of Loesser's birth.
