THE FATHER, a new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), opened just last night, April 14, 2016 on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Joan Rivers: Exit Laughing, the first documentary about legendary comedian Joan Rivers since her passing, will air on THIRTEEN onToday, April 1 at 10 p.m. Featuring Sarah Silverman, Whitney Cummings, Kathy Griffin, Dick Cavett, Don Rickles, Lily Tomlin, Marlo Thomas and many more, the film was produced by the Comedy Hall of Fame.  

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of Hollywood, by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis, Chasing the Song) directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley.

Two Rooms tells the story of the wife of an American hostage held in Beirut facing the difficult decision of cooperating with cautious hostage negotiators from the State Department or taking a riskier path by speaking candidly and publicly with a journalist. Although written in response to the hostage abductions of the 1980s, the play continues to resonate as we face similar hostage situations throughout the world today. Two Rooms examines the conflict between the needs of the state and the costs of those needs to individual victims and those who love them.

George Street Playhouse today announced the cast of Laura Eason's Sex With Strangers, which runs March 8 through March 27 at the New Brunswick theatre.  Kyle Coffman (Newsies, West Side Story on Broadway) will portray young, brash writer Ethan Kane; JoAnna Rhinehart (TV's Elementary, Damages) will play novelist and teacher Olivia Lago.  The production will be helmed by George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint.

Despite a previous extension through March 2016, BroadwayWorld has just learned that the new comedy CLEVER LITTLE LIES by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro will play its final performance on Sunday, January 24th at the Westside Theatre (Upstairs) (407 West 43rd Street).

The award-winning series MetroFocus premieres new episodes in the New York and tri-state region weeknights at 5 p.m. on WLIW21, 5:30 p.m. on NJTV and 6 p.m. on THIRTEEN. All episodes are available at metrofocus.org following the broadcast.
