The International Thespian Society's second annual New York Alumni Council event, Broadway Back to School, is a benefit to support theatre education for underserved students taking place September 26 at Feinstein's/54 Below.

Last year, New Yorker Marla Louissaint competed in the National High School Musical Awards, also known as the 'Jimmy' Awards, and received the title of Best Actress. She is now a rising sophomore at Fordham University pursuing a career in computer science, but continues to demonstrate her theatrical talents. So who is this young starlet and how does she survive the busy life of having more than one career?

Next up at Encores! Off-Center is Kurt Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. The eighth annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA)/JIMMY AWARDS will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. 62 high school students from across America will compete for the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress. This year, for the first time ever, the pre-event red carpet and the awards presentation will be streamed live on Facebook.

The Broadway Education Alliance Inc. presented The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance (formerly the Gershwin Awards) on Sunday, May 22 at The Beacon School in Manhattan. The two-hour showcase hosted by Tim Federle (co-writer of Tuck Everlasting) featured 35 students who had played leading roles at 26 high school located throughout the five boroughs of New York, Long Island and Westchester.

This annual talent showcase featured 44 students representing 26 New York City metro area high schools competing for the coveted title of Best Actress and Best Actor in a musical.

The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance (formerly the Gershwin Awards), has announced the 2015-2016 student performers who will compete for the title of Best Actress and Best Actor in a licensed high musical presented by high schools located in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and Westchester.
