40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival Announced

Playwrights Foundation, one of the West Coast's premiere launchpads for exceptional emerging playwrights, is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF), featuring playwrights Hilary Bettis, Clarence Coo, Bennett Fisher, Lauren Gunderson, Nilan Johnson, and Mona Mansour. The 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival runs July 13 - 23, 2017 at Custom Made Theatre, 533 Sutter Street in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District.  In addition to twelve staged readings, the Festival will offer a Theater Professionals weekend 7/21-23, special events and an anniversary celebration 7/13.  Tickets on sale June 1st at bayareaplaywrightsfestival.org.

Yale Repertory Theatre, celebrating 50 years of daring artists, bold choices, and adventurous audiences, presents the world premiere of Scenes from Court Life, or the whipping boy and his prince by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Mark Wing-Davey, now through October 22 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is tonight, October 6.

The Public's Free MOBILE UNIT Production of HAMLET Launches Today

Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this fall with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's HAMLET, directed by Patricia McGregor.

YALE SCHOOL OF DRAMA announces the retirement of Professor Adjunct Edward A. Martenson, Chair of the Theater Management Department, effective June 30, 2017, and the appointment of Professor Adjunct Joan Channick, who currently serves as Associate Dean, as the new Chair, effective July 1, 2017.

Photo Flash: THE FORGOTTEN WOMAN Opens Tomorrow at Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the arrival of the Hamptons' newest diva, with the world premiere of THE FORGOTTEN WOMAN, a new play by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Noah Himmelstein. The production starts tomorrow, May 31, and runs through June 19. There is a 'Pay What You Can' performance on May 31 with a limited amount of tickets available at the Box Office starting at 11 am that are based on a first-come, first-served basis.

Farm Theatre to Present Padraic Lillis' HOPE YOU GET TO ELEVEN, 6/23-7/3

This summer The Farm Theater is pleased to present Padraic Lillis' solo show, Hope You Get to Eleven, or What Are We Going to Do About Sally?, directed byScott Illingworth and presented as part of the 8th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. Performances will be on June 23 at 7:30pm, June 25 at 5pm, June 29 at 7:30pm, and July 3 at 4:30pm at The Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery).
