MTC Music Academy Announces 5 Week Vocal Masterclass with Special Guests And Personalized Audition Material

MTC Music Academy presents a 5 week Vocal Masterclass featuring intensive technique coaching with Founder and Voice Teacher, Tegan Miller, as well as expert input from rest of the creative team, Music Director, Assaf Gleizner (Office the Musical) and Rep Coach, Andre Catrini (Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit). The classes will also include handpicked, personalized audition material for each student and a showcase for two Casting Directors, Holly Buzcek (HDB Casting/Wojcik/Seay Casting) and Alison Franck (Franck Casting), as well as the creative team. In this showcase, actors will present their new material and receive live, constructive feedback.

Oratorio Society Of NY Announces Winners For Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition 2019

The baritone Steven Eddy, a native of Laurel, MD, is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York's 2019 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The awards to the eight finalists were announced by Competition Chairwoman Janet Plucknett following their performances in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 6. The Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing, is now in its 43rd year. The full list of finalists and prizes is:

Forty years ago, two visionary leaders - Isaiah Sheffer and Allan Miller- took over an abandoned Upper West Side theater for an all-day free marathon concert called Wall to Wall Bach.  This event founded Symphony Space, and every year since 1978, Symphony Space has been presenting free marathon Wall to Wall events, hailed by The New York Times as 'an annual gift to the city of New York.'  In its 40th anniversary year, Symphony Space's signature concert event celebrates the centennial of a cherished American composer: Leonard Bernstein.  This FREE marathon concert will honor Bernstein's legacy with music, dance, conversation, film clips, and more, exploring the many facets of his creative life (May 19th, 3pm-11pm, Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, 95th and Broadway).

Scott Wheeler's opera, The Sorrows of Frederick, will be seen at Brooklyn's Irondale Center on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 8pm. Act 1 of this two-act opera is being presented as part of Center for Contemporary Opera's Development Series. The libretto is by Romulus Linney. Mark Shapiro conducts and Beth Greenberg is the stage director with Keith Phares singing the title role of Frederick.

The tenor Charles Sy, a native of Toronto, is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York's 2018 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The award was announced by Competition Chairwoman Janet Plucknett following a performance by eight finalists in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 14.
