Paper Mill Playhouse, one of the country's premier not-for-profit theaters, has announced a special, Autism/Sensory friendly performance of Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID. This performance, designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities, and planned in cooperation with Autism New Jersey and Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center at Rutgers, will be held today, June 26, 2013, at 4:00PM. This is the first time Paper Mill Playhouse has expanded its Autism-Friendly performances to a main stage production.
Paper Mill Playhouse hosted the 18th Annual Rising Star Awards - Presented by the Investors Foundation -tonight, June 4th at the Millburn Theater. Schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Production and Leading Actor/Actress nominees performed at the event and award recipients were presented with a crystal award from Tiffany & Co. Summit High School came out on top, winning Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical. A total of 31 awards were presented along with five scholarships and other cash prizes. Paper Mill Playhouse presents Disney's The Little Mermaid, based on the classic animated film of the same title. The American premiere of this brand new production will feature a revamped script, additional songs, a new physical production and an entirely fresh interpretation of the piece. The 75th Anniversary Gala celebrated Paper Mill's legacy as a world-class producer of theater and its role as a pioneer in arts education for three-quarters of a century. The evening offered dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and entertainment by students from Paper Mill Playhouse's arts education programs, The Eddie Bruce Band, and headliner Jeremy Jordan, star of Broadway's Newsies and NBC's Smash. Paper Mill Playhouse, (Mark S. Hoebee, Producing Artistic Direct; Todd Schmidt, Managing Director), one of the country's premier not-for-profit theaters, is thrilled to announce a new arts education initiative, The Paper Mill Players Camp. The summer camp is a non-competitive, summer musical theater workshop in which students can have fun while honing their acting, singing and dancing skills. The classes will run from July 2nd to July 25th and meet three times a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is a morning session available from 9:30am-12:30pm for children ages 6-8, and an afternoon session for children ages 9-11. Classes will be held at the Millburn Library, and tuition is $625.00 for the four week session.
