Full of the clever and intricate dialogue that makes his work remarkable and popular, Michael Hollinger's Under the Skin is the second show in Circle Theatre's anniversary season. This funny and moving new play asks the question: what does it really mean to give a part of yourself to someone else? Previous Circle productions by Mr. Hollinger include: Incorruptible (2009); Opus (2010); Ghost-Writer (2012); and Hope & Gravity (2014). Mr. Hollinger will travel to Fort Worth to attend the final matinee preview and opening night performances of Under the Skin. That was Winston Churchill's take on the game of golf, an opinion which might be shared by several top competitors at the recent US Open. Nevertheless, golf remains an obsession for many amateurs, and competition in inter-country club tourneys can be fierce. But nowhere is there a competition with more comedic punch than in Ken Ludwig's riotous farce, The Fox on the Fairway, beginning a 6-week run at Stage West on Friday, July 5. Circle Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season continues with Becky's New Car, a new play by renowned playwright Steven Dietz. When Becky's New Car first premiered in 2008, Variety claimed that it 'takes the audience on a smart, comic cruise through the perils of middle-aged longing and regret.' In 2009, it was one of six finalists for the prestigious Steinberg New Play Award given by the American Theatre Critics Association. Preview performances are Thursday, July 28; Friday, July 29; and Saturday, July 30 (matinee). The production officially opens Saturday evening, July 30, at 8:00pm, followed by a post-show party with the cast and crew. (more...)
