Today, we are taking a listen to five of the greatest and most deservedly classic-status cast albums of all time, with all five selections also being Tony-winning Best Musicals recently remastered, repackaged and re-released by Masterworks Broadway in time for Tony Award season which this week is finally coming to a close. In salute of Broadway now - and as it was fifty years ago when the first of these scores premiered - we take stock of what we have got, for better or worse. Surely, the strength of these shows' scores speak and sing out loud for themselves: 42nd Street, 1776, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, MAME and CITY OF ANGELS. From Herman to Coleman to Loesser and beyond we go, with a glance to the future and the all-to-recent past...

Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. CELLULOID is the story of a Philadelphia filmmaker, Jack Hudson, pursuing his dream in the late 1970's. Film production is being threatened by video. The industry for small filmmakers is faltering but Jack will never give up in his search for the 'Big One'; the contract that will put his company, Motion Picture Arts, on top.

According to Popeater.com, Neil Patrick Harris may be heading from the small screen back to the Great White Way to star as P.T. Barnum in the musical BARNUM, about the famed showman. According to the site, Harris is the first and only choice for the role.

As previously reported, Hugh Jackman will star as P.T. Barnum in the upcoming musical film 'The Greatest Showman on Earth' written by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City) and produced by Twentieth Century Fox. The studio has been in talks with music sensation Mika to compose the soundtrack. Yesterday, the singer spoke with New York Magazine to discuss his creative process and, though tight-lipped, confirmed a possible contribution to the film.

Variety reports that Twentieth Century Fox has signed Hugh Jackman to star as P.T. Barnum in a new musical 'The Greatest Showman on Earth' which will be a contemporary musical written by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City).
