Second City Hollywood Announces 2018 Bob Curry Fellows

The Second City Hollywood has announced the 2018 Bob Curry Fellows. The Bob Curry Fellowship is a one-of-a-kind professional development master program, named for the first African-American performer on a resident stage. These actors and improvisers from diverse multicultural backgrounds will train and study at The Second City Hollywood and perform in October of this year.

Bainbridge Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the appointment of Mario Alejandro Torres as Music Director and Conductor for the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra. "While not originally a finalist for the position, Mario guest conducted the BSO's February concert and wowed the musicians with his skill," said BPA Executive Director Dominique Cantwell. "We were incredibly fortunate to have a remarkable field of candidates, most of whom have local ties. That Mario rose to the top among such talented and collaborative company speaks volumes."

Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ's life. In a show about the different stages a woman's body goes through in life, Helsinki-based mask company Teatteri Metamorfoosi uses the Finnish mythology surrounding saunas to take their aging character through her memories. Sitting in a sauna, a woman is waiting to die, but she is distracting by a mythical creature, the elf of the sauna, who evokes memories to take her through the chapters of her womanhood. Using masks, live sound effects and original music, The Sauna offers a relaxing and meditative space to contemplate and cleanse.
