Heinz Hall will 'rock 'n' roll' when the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra presents 'A Night of Symphonic Rock' tonight, July 25 at 8 p.m. 

PITTSBURGH – Five-time Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and vocalist Diana Krall joins musical forces with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for the Today Night Icons at Heinz Hall tonight, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Los Angeles has gained an exciting addition to its classical music scene with the formation of the Young Artists Symphony Orchestra (YASO) led by Artistic Director Alexander Treger, noted conductor, music educator and former Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. 

The Public Theater will kick off the 2015-16 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of Homer's THE ODYSSEY, conceived and directed by Public Works Director Lear deBessonet, with music, lyrics and book by Todd Almond. THE ODYSSEY will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Brandon Victor Dixon as Odysseus, Karen Olivo as Penelope and Taran Killam as Cyclops.

Johnny Mathis, one of the most versatile and multi-dimensional pop artists of modern time, takes the Heinz Hall stage with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for its Summer with the Symphony: Thursday Night Icons series tonight, July 16 at 7:30 p.m.

In a concert to celebrate the City of Havana on the eve of its 500th anniversary, Marin Alsop will conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba, with pianists Lang Lang and Chucho Valdés as soloists.

One of the country's most exciting mezzo sopranos, Jennifer Johnson Cano, will perform 'Songs of Longing and Desire' in the Picotte Recital Hall at the Massry Center for the Arts in Albany tonight, June 26, 2015 at 8:00pm. Cano will be accompanied by her husband, Christopher Cano, who is an extraordinary pianist. They often collaborate and work together.

Ten pianists have been chosen to advance to the Semifinals of Canada's Honens Piano Competition. The musicians (ages 22 to 30) come from six countries: Italy, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States. One pianist will be named the Honens Prize Laureate and win the world's largest award of its kind-$100,000 (CAN) and an artist development program valued at a half million dollars. The Semifinals and Finals of the Honens Piano Competition take place during the 2015 Honens Festival & Piano Competition in Calgary, September 3 to 12.

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will welcome two new staff conductors at the start of the 2015-2016 season. Andrés Franco and Francesco Lecce-Chong both will join the symphony staff as assistant conductors.

Bay Street Theater has announced that FIVE PRESIDENTS, the new play by Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (Six Feet Under, The West Wing, and House of Cards), will extend its run for an additional week due to popular demand. The production will now run from tonight, June 23-July 19.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is pleased to announce the launch of its sixth annual BSO Academy Week. From today, June 20 through Saturday, June 27, 2015, instrumentalists from across the country are invited to rehearse and perform side-by-side with BSO musicians and under the direction of Music Director Marin Alsop in an intensive music 'fantasy camp.'

HOUSTON (June 18, 2015) – The Houston Symphony ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights series will continue at 8:30 p.m. on June 20, featuring the Houston Symphony debuts of guest conductor Karina Canellakis and guest artist Charlie Albright.

PITTSBURGH – The wonderful world of Disney joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with high-resolution film clips and  beloved music and songs for PNC Pops: Disney in Concert Tale as Old as Time, this weekend, June 19-21 at Heinz Hall.

As part of the New York Philharmonic's celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of its historic Concerts in the Parks, the Philharmonic will present Share the Stage in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island, inviting local musicians to perform on the stage in their home boroughs before the Orchestra's performances.
