The 62nd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® today announces its full programme, featuring a diverse selection of 225 feature films from both established and emerging talent. This 12-day celebration of cinema illustrates the richness of international filmmaking, with films to delight and entertain audiences, and also films that probe and interrogate issues of significance.

Musica Viva NY kicks off its 2018-19 season with Songs of Love, an evening of lieder by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and P.D.Q. Bach, on Sunday, September 23 at 5:00 p.m. at All Souls Church. The concert features soprano Devony Smith, mezzo-soprano Michele Eaton, tenor Nathan Siler, and baritone Brian Mextorf, accompanied by Artistic Director Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez and Trent Johnson.

Fathom Events, the leading event cinema distributor that acquires, markets and distributes exclusive cinema events nationwide, presented “ELVIS 50th Anniversary Comeback Special” in nearly 700 movie theaters across the U.S. on August 16 and 20. The two-night event attracted more than 70,000 attendees domestically and is estimated to sell more than 165,000 tickets across 1,000 movie theaters internationally.

Producers John Lant and Cornell Christianson with ICFB Productions are pleased to announce the East Coast Off-Broadway premiere of IT CAME FROM BEYOND, a 1950's sci-fi, musical comedy with book by writer / producer Cornell Christianson, music and lyrics by Stephen M. Schwartz and Norman E. Thalheimer and directed by Jim Blanchette.

For the sixth year in a row, Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel with their evening of swinging standards starting Sunday, September 2, then running every Sunday through December 30, from 9pm to midnight.  Bassist Steve Doyle will again join the duo. 

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) is pleased to present Fake News and True Love: Fourteen Stories by Robert Baines, a solo exhibition of jewelry by Australian artist Robert Baines, on view October 16, 2018, through March 3, 2019. The exhibition centers on fourteen fanciful news stories, of which Baines' jewelry serves as 'evidence.' Using rings, parures, neckpieces, and bracelets, the artist highlights the constructed nature of collective history, manipulating what is accepted as truth to address the influence that fake news, sensational headlines, and the fabrication of alternative realities has on our perception of events.

The American Songbook Association (ASA) is proud to present its first Annual Gala, The Joint Is Jumpin'!, a joyous celebration of contributions to the American Songbook by Black songwriters and notable singers. The ASA will also present its first annual Lifetime Achievement Award to singer Marilyn Maye. The award will be presented to Maye by her longtime friend, fashion designer, Bob Mackie. The event takes place at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 W. 42nd Street, New York City, on September 17, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Suzanna Ross will be singing at The Triad Theater in a repeat performance on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 7p.m. With a romantic line-up of songs drawn from American, French, and other songbooks, recent reviews include "convincing to the ears" - whether sung in English or French - "passionate," "well-paced" and "magical."

HBO Documentary Films presents THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING, a fascinating deep dive into the contemporary art world directed by Oscar® nominee Nathaniel Kahn, filmmaker (HBO's My Architect). The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and has since traveled to top festivals around the world. It will open theatrically through HBO Documentary Films at the Quad Cinema in New York on Friday, Oct. 19, followed by openings on Oct. 26 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Boston, Minneapolis, Dallas and Miami, and on Nov. 2 in Philadelphia, Seattle and Portland. THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING will debut Monday, Nov. 12 on HBO.

The Arthur Newman Theatre at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert is set to reopen under the artistic direction of CLago Productions. A season of five shows has been announced beginning September 20 and running through December 9 of this year.

Next Friday, September 7, Elise Davis returns with her sophomore album Cactus, the follow up to her 2016 critically-acclaimed debut The Token. With Cactus, Elise moves between lush alt-country and stripped-down folk confessionals, gluing everything together with story-driven songs about independence, liberation, and resilience as an adult woman.

The MTH Theater has announced casting and additional details for its upcoming production of Lerner & Loewe's masterpiece, MY FAIR LADY. Allison Jones will assume the title role of Eliza Doolittle alongside esteemed Kansas City veteran Bruce Roach, as Henry Higgins.
